Cali's Summer

Oh God!! Dad?

"Why don't eat go a donut, you fat cow." I do consider myself fat. So I guess she's right. "Are you going to say anything?" Em says impatiently. "yeah. Maybe I will go eat a donut!" I say. She gives me a dirty look and walks away. Gosh I hate her.

"Hey Cali!!" Yes! Macs here!! She's my only friend. I guess we are more like sisters. I thought she was going to her dad's for the summer. I guess not. "Hey Mac! I thought you where going to your dad's." "I missed my flight." "Cool. Wanna get out of here." Mac is short for Makenzie. She has a lip piercing and is a total bad girl. I freaking love her. She's amazing.

We end going out on her golf cart. Me and Mac ride around. Gosh. We just about flipped the golf cart. Me and Mac drive down dirt roads on full throttle and just hit every bump we can.

"Hey look who it is!" Mac shouts. "Who is it?" I ask. "It's Joey," Mac tells me. Joeys on another golf cart doing the same thing we are. "HEY JOEY" "Mac? hey Mac!!" Says Joey. "Who's your friend?" "Oh this is Cali! She's totally cool!" "hi" I say shyly.

I have to admit that Joey is kinda cute. Like really cute.

Joey is a tall brunette with green eyes. He's very athletic and very hot. I don't even know how to describe him. I'm not sure why I'm telling myself he's hot. He'll never notice me or at least like me. "Hey guys. I'm gonna go home. Bye Mac! Talk to you later Joey!" "Bye"

CHAPTER 2

**at home**

"Dad! dad! HELLO DAD!!!" I shout when I walk in. I couldn't wait to tell him that Mac was still here! "Dad!" "Cali." Was that my dad? Where is he? I walk around my house looking for him. I walk into his bedroom. Not there. I walk into his bathroom. "Omg! dad!" I don't know what to do. "Hello? 911? yes. my dad. I came home and I found him in the bathroom. He is bleeding and there is glass everywhere. Okay. Okay. hurry." It took 5 minutes for the ambulance to get here. I watched them drive my dad away. I don't even know what is wrong. I know the hospital will call my mom so I'm not even going to call her. I'll call Mac instead. "Hey Mac. Yea. My dad went to the hospital. Right?" We talk like that for hours. Then I hear the door open downstairs. "Cali?" "You home?" Eww it's my brother. Briley. "Yes. Up here!" I shout. I hear him walking up the stairs. Then my door opens, and I can see the fear in his face. "Mom call you?" I knew she would. "Yes." briley says. I feel really bad for him. He's only a year younger then me. So that means he's 14. "Would you like to see him?" I ask. "Umm sure..."

We say nothing on the way to the hospital. I'm only 15 and can't legally drive without an adult, so we take the bus. Neither of us say anything on the way there.

I wonder if dad's ok. I call mom and figure out what room.

The doctors won't let us see him but they give us frequent updates. "Hey guys." the doctor says. "I have news. your father has a small amount of excess blood in his brain and when he hit the ground, he cracked his skull.. He may not remember you when he wakes up. That is if he wakes up. And there's a 70% chance that he doesn't"
