"Hey! You ok?"
He heard those few words and then, two blurred figures moved right in front of him. As he recovered his senses, he noticed those two figures began to take shape: they were a young man and a kid; the last one dressed in a very peculiar fashion: a bright red attire with a long white cape and a helmet with silks on top that resembled petals of a flower. He slowly sat down and saw how the faces of the two boys illuminated in joy. They kept saying: he's alive! He's alive! He noticed with his hand he had a little bump on the back of his head; he tried to recall what had happened, and it was then that he remembered he had left his friend behind.
"Yuna!!" he exclaimed "where's Yuna?!"
The oldest of the boys told him to relax and explain them what had happened. They introduced themselves as Vaan and Muuchi, the Onion Knight. They told him how they had seen him floating on the river. Onion Knight specified how afraid they were he could have drowned but that thanks to his fast acting and his healing abilities, he had survived. Vaan, however, promptly disapproved Onion's prideful behavior and clarified how he had been the one to jump on the river to bring Tidus out. The which, of course, the little kid disagreed. Tidus asked them not to fight over that and thanked them for their help and then, made an intent of leaving his bed. The other two refused.
"You should rest a little more" Vaan told him
"But I've lost Yuna! I have to find her!" Tidus said
"Who's Yuna?" Onion asked him "maybe we can help you look after her"
Tidus explained them and after listening to his story, they agreed to help the blitzball player to find his friend. They, however, insisted he should rest for more time and that as soon as he was better, they would all leave in search of the girl. They had a plan, however, it was disturbed by a sudden earthquake, so strong it made everything on the room fall: the vases, various potions, and even both Vaan and Onion lost their equilibrium. When it had passed, the three left the inn to check on the city and they discovered it was sunk in an uproar. People were running, screaming, as if they were afraid of something. In the distance, many explosions happened, and fire covered the streets.
"What's going on?!" Tidus exclaimed
"We won't wait to find out!! Run!" Vaan exclaimed
"But...! We can't leave everyone here!!" Onion said and happened to see a kid fall nearby. He did not wait more and ran towards him to help him. However, when he tried to touch him, his hands went right through him as if he had tried to touch a mere phantom. In seconds, the image of that boy disappeared and there was another explosion nearby. Vaan didn't wait more and hurried to the Onion kid, grabbed him by the arm and pulled him towards him. Another explosion followed.
"We have to get out of here" Vaan said after the effect of the last explosion had passed
"I can't leave now!! Yuna must be here!!" Tidus exclaimed "Yuna!! Yuna!!!" he started screaming and then, he whistled.
"We can't stay here!!" Vaan insisted "Maybe she already left this place!!"
"How can I be sure of it?!" TIdus said and looked around while still screaming her name. It was then, that, in the distance, heading to the forest, away from the city, was the familiar figure of an aeon. He recognized it was one of those creatures Yuna could summon and so, without meddling word with his other allies, he left running towards it. Vaan thought he had made some sense into him so, he followed him. Onion Knight, still confused, ran behind the other two. They reached the outskirts of town in no time and by the time Vaan caught up with Tidus, he noticed Onion Knight had been left behind. The youngest warrior was trying to catch up to their pacing but the continuous quakes disturbed his balance and made him fall many times, bruising his knees. He was also growing tired of running that fast.
