Chapter Five

Lucca

"Lucca," Isabella whispers shakily. I glare past my confused wife to the woman behind her. The woman I gave specific orders to and nowhere in those orders did I say come into any form of contact with my wife.

I remove my hand off of my gun for Isabella's sake. Stress isn't good for the baby. I can kill this woman later.

"Ana," I spit out. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm s-sorry. It was an accident! I didn't know she was going to be here!"

I continue to glare at her, taking a step forward as she takes a step backward.

"Common sense would have told you to keep walking. You didn't have to stop and talk to her! Do you understand what you have down?" I roar out. Isabella places a hand on my chest as my breathing becomes ragged. Isabella wraps her arms around me, her swollen belly pressing into me. I feel her pull the gun from waistband before stepping out of my embrace. Rolling my eyes, I turn my attention back to Ana.

"I'm a little confused, Ana. I choose to help, saving you from Afonso's men. I send you to America to help you and your daughter. I even offer to help with your husband, but do you want to know what you did? You did the one thing I told you not to do. My wife is off-limits. I told you that specifically several times. So, would you like to tell me why I'm staring at you in my wife's hotel room?"

She opens her mouth to say something but instead, she closes it.

Smart choice.

"Hold on," Isabella interrupts. "You lied to me?" Hurt flashes through her eyes before they glaze over with anger.

Less than a second later, Gabi and Madison comes bursting through the door. Gabi looks over the room until her eyes land on Ana then to Isabella. Once she takes in her best friend's demeanor, playful Gabi is thrown out.

I may be slightly overprotective over Bell, but I think Gabi has me beat. If anybody even glances at Bell with a foul look, Gabi will be there to kill them. Literally.

Gabi charges over to Ana, wrapping her hands around her neck in the process. I shake my head and take a seat out the couch, crossing one leg over the other. Duke hops into the seat beside me. I side-eye him before watching the scene in front of me.

Madison rushes over to try to free Gabi's hand from her neck, but her efforts are helpless. Robert comes rushing out of the kitchen after he hears all of the commotion. He snatches Gabi off of Ana effortlessly. Ana sinks to the floor, trying to catch her breath. Gabi calms down once Robert has a hold on her, but she shoots a murderous glare at Ana before retreating to my wife.

I suck my teeth together and clench my jaw in annoyance. I glance at Isabella and see anger swimming in her eyes and it's targeted at me.

Great.

"Look," all conversations in the room seize. "I'm going to tell you this once and one time only. You need to leave and never come around my wife again. Understood?"

Ana opens her mouth to respond, but I instantly stop her. "It's either a yes or no. Nod or shake your head?"

A defeated look takes over her face before she nods her head. Smart choice.

I turn my attention back to my wife. She sends me a hard glare before offering aid to Ana. A moment later, Ana's daughter walks out of the kitchen. She glances around the room, her eyes landing on me. She smiles innocently at me before her attention diverts to her mother still coughing on the floor.
