Chapter 24

[Alli's POV]

Charles began to vlog. Dr. Megan got this huge scary needle out. I leaned over. "Ready?" She asked. I nodded. I felt the needle go into my back. It was painful, I guess, but after what had just happened, I was not really paying attention to much. My lower body became numb. "Oh, god, that's weird." I remarked. I could feel pressure, but not pain. Charles dissapeared and reappeared wearing hospital scrubs. "I love you honey." He said, kissing me. "We are ready to go." Dr. Megan said. My hospital bed was wheeled down to the operating room, with Charles by my side, holding my hand and vlogging. The doctors put a drape separating me from the "surgical field". Charles muttered words of encouragement and vlogged. I felt pressure on my stomach and figured that it must be them cutting. Nobody talked. I felt things being moved around inside me. I silently cried, watching my tears drip sideways down my face and onto the bed. I gripped Charles' hand tightly. After what seemed like an eternity of sheer terror, I heard it. The sound that most people dread hearing, but the sound that to Charles and I, meant that our baby, our baby that was not supposed to survive, had. "It's a miracle!" Dr. Megan exclaimed. "No, it's a girl!" Another doctor said. "It's a little girl who is a miracle." I smiled, my tears now tears of joy and happiness instead of fear and pain. I only got a brief view of our miracle baby before she was taken to the NICU with her brother and sister. We were taken back to the room we were in before. "What should we name her?" Charles asked. "Miracle, because that's what she is." I replied. "Miracle is too long." Charles stated. "Yeah, you're right." I agreed. "How about..." I began. "Mira." we said together. "Mira, it's perfect!" I exclaimed. "How about Mira Halley Trippy, Mira for miracle and Halley beacuse Halley's comet is so rare and that is what she is." Charles stated. "Amazing." I agreed. "Mira Halley Trippy, born October 24th, 2014, 6:31 PM." We said together.
