You know people are very interesting. I'm not talking about celebrities or popular people, but people in general. Our lives can change for the better or worse in a matter of months, days, or even minutes with a few words or actions. That's what happened to me.
I sit in the back of the room in unflattering clothes everyday. My attire; baggy jeans and a hoodie with my wavy pony tail. My only friends consist of books, music, and dance, and quite frankly I don't need anything else. I focus on school and no one knows I exist which is fine by me, especially considering my past.
"Katheryn what do you think," Unfortunately I hadn't been listening to the past few minutes of AP literature, and was reading ahead.
"I don't know Ms. West. The novel just has such a complex storyline and I am still trying to grasp the ideas of what we recently read." I replied the smart people answer hoping it would get me out of trouble, especially considering I was one of Ms. West's favorite students. Unfortunately, I have an attention span of that dog in Up.
"Nice try Katheryn, but please try to pay attention." Ms. West caught me red-handed.
"Yes ma'am," It was so funny how everyone was completely lost because no one had any clue who I was, or why I was here. It was ok though because I was quick to fade back into the background.
School went on as usual, lurking in the shadows of the schoool hallways all by myself. When I got home no one was there (as usual). I actually have a really nice house surprisingly. Some of my old friends even refered to it as a mansion because of it's size and it's beauty. I remember back when it was so warm and filled with happiness. Now it is all trapped behind the cold loneliness and all the memories of the people, along with all the good times that are forever forgotten; or at least ignored. I got dressed in the tight skin exposing dance clothes that I would never let anyone see me in anymore, and went up to the studio. I made up a few dances that the world would never get to see.
I used to be a student at a prestigious dance school until all the demons of my life entered and since then I just slipped out of everything: my friends, students, and life. I am just anxious for graduation when I can finally set out of this small town filled with bad memories here in Indiana, so I can escape all the barriers.
After another hour of dancing I took a cold shower in the bathroom (which is way bigger than needed) and ate some left over take out. I did my homework like the good student I am, and went to bed. Once again my typical day.
