Have you ever been so nervous that you could not stop fidgeting for the life of you? Yeah well multiply that by fifty and then you might be close to how I feel right about now. As you can tell I am very fond of the kind shadows and hate the evils of people; so I really don't want people to know about my existence, much less my backstory. Treacherous Ms. West.

"Alright then, now that partners have been assigned I am giving you the rest of the period to work on a worksheet to start the project. This is just a basic getting to know you and is due tomorrow." Ms. West announced. Okay deep breathes, it is going to be fine. Oh who am I kidding I am so screwed.

Reluctantly I scooted my desk next to James' and prayed for the best. "So my name is James Knight," and I begin laughing. "What?" He asks completely serious.

"Well you may have not known my name, but even a social outcast 9th grader could tell you that." And it's true. Here's what you need to know about James Knight. He is the cliché golden boy: all star quarter back, good looking (not that I said that), player, and apparently has a brain. He even has the dreamy name.

"Sorry, I can't help how good I am with the ladies," James arrogantly states.

"Big headed much? Funny though considering you didn't even know my name," I retort.

"Yeah well I don't know any girls' name."

Wow, he really is an ass isn't he.

"What?" He states shocked.

Wait did I just say that out loud?

"Yes, yes you did." James replies smug.

"You know what," I state conscious of my words, "Lets begin. So how old are you?"

"17," He replies immediately.

"Favorite color?"

"Blue"

"What is your favorite hobby?" This continued for ten minutes and we finished his little interview in the nick of time.

"Okay so how are we going to do this?" James asks packing up his things.

"Do what?" I question.

"Well Ms. West said that our sheets are due tomorrow and while yours is finished, mine isn't even started and I need a good grade in this class." Well that is surprising. Jock actually cares about his grades.

"Well do you want to meet up at your house or the library or something?" I say.

"How about the park right after school?" The park is a beautiful spot in our town, but very few people use it because it has no phone signal or Wi-Fi.

"The park sounds great." And truthfully it was because no one would go there if they can't use their phones. After that James and I parted ways and went through the whole school day.

Once the bell rang I made my way to the student parking lot and made a quick trip to Walgreens for candy. What? I'm a sugar addict I NEED sugar to function. I stand and look for a minute trying to decide. Well what would James like? I decided to play it safe and got M&Ms, Skittles, and for me only Mike and Ikes. After checking out I made my way to the big park.

"You're late." James scolded with a scowl when I got there.

"Ah but I brought candy." I retort holding up the bag.

James' eyes lit up and he started chanting, "CANDY, CANDY, CANDY!"

I laugh, "Are you five?"

"Mentally: yes, physically: definitely not." He replies seductively.

"UGH I did not need to hear that." He chuckles at that.

"Well," James begins opening a box of M&Ms, "I had to wait five minutes with nothing to do because my phone doesn't have a signal, but this candy does kind of make me forgive you."

"Well good," I say happily.

We start the project him asking questions and me bouncing off answers. This continues for a while and soon we finish our candy at the same time and we look at each other knowing what is going to happen. There is one box of Skittles left and then there is no more candy. We both dive after it knowing a blood bath is about to begin. Luckily I grab it first.

"Give it to me!" James yells as he tries to steal my precious away from me.

"NO! I bought it and a grabbed it first therefore it is mine," I demand trying to save my candy.

"Yeah well you made me wait 5 minutes with nothing to do. Now give me the freaking skittles!"

"HELL NO" I shout running. We run a while until he tackles me and steals the candy.

"Now it's mine." He states a matter of factly. I decide its time to pull out the big guns. Now as I said before James is a man-whore so I decide to hit him wear it hurts (not literally but I will if my Skittles are in serious danger). Considering he is straddling me I lean up to his ear and attempt to be seductive by whispering empty promises. His eyes darken and he begins to lean in to try and kiss me and then... FLIP.

"THE SKITTLES ARE MINE BITCH!" I get up from on top of him and run and climb one of the grandfather oaks. I lean against a branch eat all the Skittles and then I come down once it is safe.

"Now that was just cruel," James states like he is an upset little kid.

"Yeah well all is fair in love and war." I quote.

"Yeah, yeah come on we need to finish the project." We wrap it up and finish in about 5 minutes. We start to get our stuff together and I walk to the parking lot.

"Hey Katherine," James calls and runs over.

"Yeah?" I reply once he approaches. "You are actually pretty cool." He says and hops in his car before I can say anything. Though he is gone the words stay with me. No one has said that to me since the incident, and I never thought I'd hear those words again.
