Daire could see the cannibals from afar. He was releasing short panicked breaths of anticipation. "Relax," Jacob soothed. Daire couldn't fathom how Jacob wasn't feeling the same way. It was the do or die moment and he wasn't even showing a flinch of nerves. "We're already committed," he reasoned. "The gut wrenching serves no purpose anymore. Ignore it."
Daire couldn't. He was starting to lose control of his bodily functions, shivering and clenching his fingers nonstop. "You're requested at the front," said a soldier. Daire looked at Jacob to accompany him with scared eyes, feeling like he was going to puke.
"Fucking Christ," Jacob muttered under his breath, accepting Daire's invitation to accompany him.
"There they are," Luke said, pointing out the obvious. "Where are your guards I told you to select?"
"He's around somewhere, I only chose one."
"You better find him, your leaving now."
Daire felt his heart skip a beat. "What? Now! What do I do? You haven't told me what to do!?"
"Relax," Luke said almost condescendingly, disappointed on how cowardly Daire was reacting to the situation. "You won't be making any orders. Just listen to Andrei, the commander of your flank. Do what he says and you'll leave without a scratch." A tall and built white man approached Daire to introduce himself.
"You won't have to worry about anything, sir. Just let me do the work," Andrei said confidently, trying to boost Daire's esteem.
"Whatever Andrei orders, you make sure that the cannibals do it too. That's your only job," Luke stressed, knowing very little of it was soaking in. "Andrei, separate," he ordered.
"Yes, sir," he immediately said, grabbing Daire by the arm to encourage movement. "Eastern flank! We're moving out! Let's go!"
A group of cheerful men separated from Luke's pack in excitement, screaming from the rush of war. They marched with a pep in their step, slowly making their way away from the main group. Cody ran straight to Daire at the execution of Andrei's order and put his arm around him. "I got you! Don't worry," Cody said, barely able to contain his excitement.
Daire returned a worrying smile, watching the cannibals become larger in image with each passing moment. Soon the eastern flank was silent and focused. The cannibals weren't too far away and action was on the horizon.
"Sir, you should be the first one to contact the cannibals," Andrei said, urging Daire in front of him.
Daire felt like crying. His plan was starting to be executed. Blud stood in one spot with a happy grin on his face. He and his fellow cannibals were waiting as if nothing was about to happen. They had been in so many battles that they were rock solid in their role. Blud laughed at the sight of Daire's blood-drained face. "At your command our fearless leader," he mocked with a bow. The O'Connorians stopped meters away from the cannibals, unsure of what to do next.
"What are you all standing around like a bunch of dickless monkeys for? Come join us, we don't bite," Leg finished, with the rest of the cannibals laughing.
The intimidating joke seemed to release the tension as Daire and his men approached the cannibals, conforming into one unit. Things were going much better than Daire had anticipated, easing his nerves significantly. Much to his amazement, the cannibals were acting as rational human beings. Daire could see Blud walking toward him only to be cut off by Jacob and Cody. "Testy," Blud said without reaction. "I'm glad you're here Jacob. I thought there was a chance you'd stay at home."
Daire knew that the comment was meant mockingly towards him and the deal they made involving Jacob's head. Jacob was completely ignorant to the true meaning of the comment but bit the bait anyways. "Suck my cock," he said with distain.
