The day before had been a blur for Mina. She had forgotten all about her argument, until she sat up and realised that Taehyung wasn't there. His painting was gone.
"Taehyung?" She asked, scanning around the room, "Taehyung where are you?"
The kitten came running into the room, crying and whining as if to tell her something. She scrambled out of bed, following the kitten downstairs.
"Taehyung?" She asked once again, wondering why he was dragging his frame downstairs.
"No, Mina. I get it, you want me gone"
"No I don't- yesterday was a huge mistake, I want you to stay" she said, rushing after him, "you can't leave me"
"Why can't I? You've got that Darwin guy to be with. He's the real human out of both of us, I don't even know what I am" he sighed, fondling with the keys to find the right one to open the door.
Mina snatched the keys away from him, running into the kitchen. She threw them out of the window into the garden without his knowledge, then sat on the table whilst he bolted after her.
"Mina! I need to leave!" He cried, searching for the keys.
"No you don't!" She hissed back, "I need you to stay"
He stopped. He turned to her, folding his arms. His demeanour had changed. It was as if he was just as emotionless as her stuffies. Seeing him like that hurt her. She had pretty much always seen him with a smile on his face.
"You obviously don't want me here" he sighed, his eyes welling with tears once again. She had realised how much he was hurting because of what she said the last time they were together.
"Taehyung, come and sit down" she said, walking to him and taking his hand, "I need to tell you something"
He shuffled over to the table with her, sitting in her favourite seat. She sat in front of him, not letting go of his hand.
"Taehyung, I love you. I love you so much, I don't want to date anybody else. Darwin is just a friend, I promise. Yesterday I was so mad at you for calling me home when you shouldn't have, but now I'm realising that it's because you only wanted what was best for me. Please don't go, I need you here" she begged, tears falling onto his hand, "please. Don't leave me alone like I used to be"
He stood. Her heart broke, she knew he was about to leave her and find his own way in a world where he would get eaten alive. He wouldn't stand a chance out there.
"Mina," he began, putting a finger under her chin, "I'm so sorry. I love you so much, I'm never going to leave you like that"
He embraced her in what could only be described as an "I love you" hug. His arms were circled around her waist and hers around his neck. She cried into his shoulder, completely wetting his shirt. He comforted her, doing his best to calm her down.
"Everything's going to be okay. I'm here, nothings going to harm you when I'm with you" he reassured, "and no matter what happens, I promise to always keep you safe"
Mina gripped onto him, crying harder. The regret she felt after being so incredibly horrid to him the day before was hitting her. She should have never spoken to him like that. She was the reason she was crying. No amount of stuffies could stop her relentless tears now. However, she felt a sense of warm from Taehyung, who calmed her down much quicker than her stuffies ever did.
It felt as if she was growing up. Finally. She didn't need her stuffies to comfort her, all she needed was him.
Of course, the stuffies were going nowhere. She wanted to keep every single one of them. They smelt like her childhood, reminiscing the fresh cookie smell she craved.
But he smelt just that little bit better.
