Lynn (Buck) Compton Pt 1

This will be longer than the others

Emma's POV

My dog tags clanked as I helped Roe dig our fox hole in Bastogne. The cold blew through my clothes and made my bones shiver.

"Almost done Em" Eugene chopped at the cold ground.

"T-thank god" I shivered.

"MEDIC!"

My head shot up and so did Eugene. I got up and ran farther into the front, I looked around.

"OVER HERE DOVER!" I look up and see Lipton waving me over.
I run over and slide on my knees, I quickly grab a bandage out of my bag and some morphine. I wrap Heffron's shin and take the cap off the morphine tube.

"Save the morphine Doc I can make it" He said clenching his teeth.

I nod "Get him outta here"

Two other men come over and pick him up and bring him to a Jeep. I sit there on my knees.

"You okay there Em?" I look behind me to see Buck Compton.
"I don't know Buck" I sigh

My body starts shaking because of the cold. I get up and follow the men taking Heffron. I get in the Jeep and they drive off.

The town was so gloomy, The buildings were so dull. I followed the nurses inside and see all wounded soldiers. A lady with a bandana in her hair helps him.

"Nurse I need morphine and plasma" I say to her and she nods.
She takes me to a room and gives me a crate of supplies.

"Thank you Miss"

She gives me a couple chocolate bars and 20 cigarette boxes. I smile at her and she nods. I walk out and stop a Jeep

"Can you take me to the front?" He nods and I get in.

The Jeep rattles and bounces down the snow coverd path, I get jossled a little but nothing compared to D-Day. the driver takes me to the men in a circle, they are praying. I had the crate to Roe and I take a blanket off the Jeep. I follow buck to his fox hole, I jump in after him.

"Hey buck I got you a blanket"

He looks up at me and shows me this expression that would take the smile off Luz.

"Bucky are you okay?"
He takes the blanket softly out of my hand

"Thank you" He puts it around himself and pulls me down to him.

I sit next to him coverd in the blanket, I take my helmet off. He shakes his head and puts it back on me. I look at my dirty shaking hands, I take a clump of fresh snow and rub it on my hands. The dirt and blood drips off and my hands look cleaner.

That was when the shells dropped.

"GET TO A FOX HOLE" lipton yelled to everyone.

I cowered into Buck's side. He held me there till it ended. I picked my head up and listened.

"MEDIC!"

I scrambled up and ducked as I ran to the call. I saw Shifty on the ground with a little leg wound. I bent down and quickly wrapped it. I gave him a chocolate bar.

"thanks Doc" I nodded in response.

I got up to make my rounds when it hit me...........
