Tegan's P.O.V.
School.
It wasn't my favorite place, but I didn't hate it, either. It was more like half and half. Some things I liked, and some things I disliked. It was simple. Of course, seeing Charlotte always made it better.
Which is exactly what was happening now. Charlotte was walking in to class, carrying her backpack on one shoulder. She was smiling, causing me to smile, too.
Her seat was in front of me, so when she sat down I poked her shoulder. She turned around, her curly brown hair swishing to the other side when she looked at me.
"Hi," I felt a little awkward and shy as I said this. We've had classes together since before time, but we didn't really talk inside of school. Unless it was for a group project or something school related.
She smiled, and I could tell she felt the same way. "Hey!"
"Did you sleep okay last night? I know we left kind of late." I said, concern in my voice. I cared about her health, and wanted to make sure she got enough sleep.
"Honestly," Charlotte began, "I only got a couple hours of sleep."
"Why? Are you okay? Do I need to take you to the nurse?" Questions came out of my mouth like a word waterfall.
"I'm fine, I'm fine." She chuckled, continuing, "I just felt so awake when I got home last night. I actually went through all the photos you've given me through the years."
My heart stopped for a second. I was kind of surprised, but at the same time, I wasn't. It made me feel happy. A smile made it's way on to my lips, "Thank you."
Confusion showed on her face as two simple words came out of her mouth: "For what?"
"Everything. For -"
"Alright, class. Everyone take their seat. Let's begin." Ms. Haylor said, walking to the chalk board, picking up a piece of chalk, and writing the date.
As Charlotte begin to turn back around, I poked her shoulder. When she looked at me, I mouthed Continue at lunch?
She just nodded, pulling out her binder for biology, as I did the same.

Lunch came quicker than I had expected, but I was not complaining. I couldn't wait to talk to Charlotte again. Every time we talked I felt fireworks, and I hated that I couldn't just man up and ask her to be mine.
As I walked into the cafeteria, I was welcomed the noise of various teenagers; some gossiping, some eating, a few reading, and so on. My eyes scanned the whole room until they landed on her. She was sitting in the back, book open on the table, apple in her hand.
Bracing myself, I walked toward her, mentally giving myself a pep talk or two. "You can do this," I said to myself as I reached her table.
"Hi." she said as I arrived, sitting down beside her, but giving her space.
"Hello," I greeted back, giving her a nervous smile.
"So, about earlier. . .?" She said, but it came out more like a question, causing me to chuckle as a red tint made its way on to her cheeks.
"Oh, right." I said, feeling myself start to get nervous. Heart beating, hands sweating a little. "I was just going to say thank you for liking all the pictures I have given you. Not everyone would do that. It means a lot to me, though." I smiled. "Especially since it's you."
Her cheeks got darker, and she looked at her book, mumbling something about me being 'so nice and sweet'.
"I have more to say, but I wasn't sure if I could get it out verbally, so I wrote you a letter." I said, pulling out the paper from last night out of my backpack, and handing it to her. "You can tell me your response, or text me, or write it on a note. I wrote my number at the end, so you have it."
Charlotte giggled, putting her hand over her mouth in attempt to keep herself quiet. "Okay. I will, Tegan." Picking up her book and backpack after throwing her apple away, she smiled at me. "See you later, okay?"
"Okay." Then she was gone, and I sat there alone, a dumb smile on my face, nervous butterflies in my stomach.
