"Paige!" I yelled to a tall girl with long, shiny black hair and light skin. Her light grey eyes turned to me. She was my best friend, Paige Ruby Brink.

"Hi, Danielle!" Paige yelled back. "Come look at this!"

I walked down the cobblestoned streets of Diagon Alley to Paige, who was standing outside a window of Quality Quidditch Supplies. Once I had made it there, I realized why she was jumping up and down, and staring with a dream-like look on her face.

"Wow," I breathed when I read the description. "I wish I had one of those."

"Me too. But I know this will cost way too much if it says, 'Price upon request.'" Paige grumbled.

"Oh well, I guess the Firebolt's for another time." I sighed, dragging Paige away from the display with me. More people wanted to stare in awe at it too.

"How was your summer, Danielle?" Paige asked when we had entered Flourish & Blotts.

"Fine, I guess. I had barely anything to do, unless you count practicing and trying out new hairstyles." I answered.

"Well, I like this one." Paige commented.

I had pulled some of my long, curly pastel purple hair into a high ponytail, but left two wavy strands to frame my dark tan face. I'm a metamorphmagus, in case that slipped your mind.

"But this has been my normal hairstyle for years." I argued sarcastically. It was true, along with my amber eyes (not natural, I just liked that eye color).

"Well, I like it." Paige replied, crossing her arms, but quickly dropped them so we could grab this year's books. "Oh, and I went to Paris. It was very pretty. I would've invited you, but I totally forgot. It was my birthday surprise."

"That's alright. But you'll have to bring me next time if it becomes a thing." I ordered, holding everything I'd gotten in my arms.

"I will, don't worry." Paige laughed as we walked up to the counter to buy all our books. "And at least one of us is well practiced with Quidditch. I think that if I brought you with me, you would've lost all sense of what to do."

"Yeah, because I'd become too girly if I went to France with you." I grinned as I paid and stepped away from the counter.

"I have to go to Madam Malkin's really fast, if you don't mind. I shot up, hopefully for the last time." Paige explained. "Because, unlike you, I can't manipulate my height."

"I'll come with you." I promised, following her. "My robes are looking a bit worn."

"Yeah, that's true." Paige agreed. "You've had those since our third year and we're entering our fifth."

We entered the shop, and stood to be measured. After Madam Malkin measured Paige, she turned to me and measured me.

"Now, do I need to make these an inch or two longer for either of you dears?" Madam Malkin asked.

"No, I think I can make sure I stay short." I replied.

"I don't believe so," Paige answered.

Madam Malkin quickly walked out of the room and returned with our new robes moments later. We paid and walked out.

"Where else do we need to go?" Paige asked.

"I don't think we need anything else. Do you want to go to the ice cream shop?" I asked. "My parents aren't going to need to pick me up for another 45 minutes and they want to get me from there."

"Sounds good." Paige agreed and we skipped off to Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor.
