"Klaus!" Damon and I said in unison. Damon stood in front of me protectively.

"I see you've moved on from our little night of intimacy." Klaus smirked. Damon's face fell. "You did tell him didn't you darling?" Klaus continued teasingly. I was starting to get really pissed off right then. "Nothing happened Klaus! I transformed and passed out, you just obviously didn't leave when I fell asleep!" I screamed at him. "Paige, baby, we should leave the crowd. We're causing a scene." Damon said as I noticed eyes focusing on us. Damon grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the crowd towards the parking lot.

"What was that snobby ass talking about when he said you and him got intimate, be honest with me now Paige." Damon said, keeping a calm tone while his striking blue eyes gave him away as agitated. I stared at him, slightly hurt that he would think of me so lowly, an exasperated sigh left my lips. "Nothing happened Damon. I had a nightmare and it triggered my transformation. I woke up screaming and Klaus came in to see what was wrong, after that I passed out." Everything was silent for what felt like a forever... Damon staring at me and me not being able to look away from his piercing eyes.

There was always something about Damon's eyes that captivated me, the depth they went and how one look from him made me weak in the knees and to become short of breath. He had this smoldering intensity in all his stares. When he was concentrating on solving a case or figuring out the bad guys next move, he would always squint his eyes in the most adorable way, it would make him look like a puppy. Right now, in this moment, I had no idea what emotions he was trying to portray to me, but his stare said many things, none of which I could comprehend.

"Baby please say something

"Baby please say something." I pleaded with him. Silence... dead silence was all that greeted me. At this point I was getting pissed off, why was he acting like this if nothing even happened. I let go of his hands and started walking down the long path from the parking lot to the main road. My wings unfurled and I took of into the night sky... no specific destination in mind, just me and the open sky.

Damon's P.O.V

She just took off, she left me in the parking lot with no words to be uttered. The guilt set in and I realized how stupid I was being. Nothing happened between her and Klaus and I was reacting as if she'd joined him for eternity and betrayed us, betrayed me. It was hard loving someone as complex as Paige Gilbert. She was breathtakingly beautiful and rather scary at times. Our age gap was large enough that if I was mortal I would be arrested... or murdered by Jeremy for touching his little sister. I love her, I have no clue where she's gone and how the hell Klaus is back! I stabbed him with that bloody stake myself. He was dead! I headed home, hoping she would be there so that I could apologize.

Paige's P.O.V

I flew for a good forty minutes before I got tired and decided to head to Matt's house. I felt really bad when I rang the doorbell and woke him up. He walked out the door shirtless and in sweatpants. "Paige?! What are you doing here, it's freezing out here, come inside." I followed Matt inside and it was quiet so I assumed that his mother was away on 'business' again. "Umm hey Matt. I'm really sorry to wake you up. I was wondering if it would be okay for me to crash here tonight?" I asked him, a slight blush creeping onto my cheeks. Matt and I were always close, he used to look after me when I was younger and the other kids would bully me. He still looks after me now, I'm very thankful for him. "Ummm sure Paige, you can take my bed and I'll sleep in my moms bed. Why aren't you sleeping at the Salvatore house like you normally do?" He asked curiously. "It's a long story that I'm far too tired to tell you now, but thank you for letting me crash here Matt. It means a lot to me." We smiled at each other and said our good nights.

I changed into the old shirt Matt gave me of his to sleep in, it was very comfy and stopped just above me knees. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I was out like a light. So fast asleep that I didn't even feel my phone vibrate against my arm in the bed. Damon was calling me non stop.

In the morning:

I woke up to the sound of pans being moved on the stove and the smell of pancakes and bacon. I walked out of the room towards the kitchen where I found Matt standing by the stove trying not to burn anything. He looked flustered. I cleared my throat, "Need some help?" I asked. Matt jumped at the sound of my voice. "Uhh morning Paige. Yeah could you maybe please help me with these pancakes, I can't flip the fricken things." He said exasperatedly. I giggled at his flustered state and ushered him away from the stove so I could do the rest of the cooking. I could feel Matt staring at me so I turned around and that's when I realized he was still shirtless, I could see him better now that the sun was up and light was streaming into the house. I quickly turned back to the stove with a blush on my cheeks, Matt was ripped.

"What happened last night Paige, not that I'm complaining that you paid me a visit, I'm just curious." I put the stove off and started putting the pancakes and bacon onto plates. I told Matt the short story, mentioning how Damon took me out for my birthday and how Klaus showed up out of no where. I left out the fact the Damon and I were, are, romantically involved. I told him I got overwhelmed and needed to be away from the Salvatore's for a short while. Matt listened to me Intently and didn't speak until I was finished. "Are you okay Paige, did Klaus try touch you, did he hurt you!" Matt asked, deep concern showing in his baby blue eyes. I smiled at him. "I'm fine Matt. I just don't understand how he's back, I watched Damon stab him and I saw him burst into flames." Matt just smiled at me and told me not to worry about it and that we'd figure it all out later. We finished our breakfast while we caught up on all that had gone on since I left and got back. "It's been amazing catching up Paige but we better get to school, I'll lend you a new top and jacket for today." He said. "Thank you for all that you've done for me Matt, I really appreciate it." I smiled and hugged him, my arms wrapped around the skin of his broad shoulders.

OOTD

Matt lent me his t-shirt and flannel and found a pair of his sisters jeans to lend to me. The jeans fit suprisingly well. I threw my hair into a messy bun and we set off to school.

The entire drive to school we were blasting the radios golden oldies and arrived in the school parking lot with me practically screaming tongue tied by group love. Matt tumbled out the car in a fit of laughter. We walked into school and the first thing I saw was a very pissed of Stefan waiting at my locker. I said goodbye to Matt and hesitantly walked towards Stefan.

"Hey Stefan." I said sheepishly, knowing I was in trouble. "Where were you last night Paige! Damon came home distraught and told me about Klaus. We were so worried you'd been taken again! He whisper shouted at me.  "Im sorry Stefan, Damon and I got into a fight, I was hurt and upset so I flew to Matt's and spent the night there." I said, gaining my confidence. "We called you hundreds of times Paige, why didn't you pick up?" He asked calming down slightly. "My phone was charging and it was on silent, I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow." I explained. Stefan sighed and just pulled me into a hug. "I am so glad you're okay Paige. Now all you have to deal with is Damon." Stefan said. I nodded and said bye to Stefan, dreading my conversation to come with Damon.

After school:

Damon picked me up from school and we drove home in silence. As soon as we were at the house he got out of the car and practically dragged me through the door. As soon as I was inside, he slammed the door and in the blink of an eye, my back was pressed against the door. "Don't you ever leave me like that again Paige, you had me so worried about you." He said, his deep voice booming through the house as he spoke. "I'm sorry." I whispered. He didn't say anything, instead he attacked my lips in a needy kiss, as if he'd never be able to kiss me again.
