I was done having my mental breakdown and was now in extreme panic mode. I sent a broadcast message telling everyone to be very very careful while the originals were in town. Everyone agreed that we'd have to look out for each other, wether it be at school, the grill and basically anywhere. We developed a buddy system. Stephan and Elena obviously went together. The same went for Bonnie and Jeremy and Caroline and Tyler. That basically left me with Matt, which obviously I didn't mind since I'd known him forever and he was always around when I was still a permanent resident in mystic falls. Damon wanted to partner up but It would be useless due to the fact that he wasn't a student and couldn't protect me. That's why Matt offered to buddy up. Damon didn't look too happy but obliged anyways for the sake of my protection. After a few hours of lying in my bed and stressing myself into paranoia and multiple cups of tea that Stefan claimed would calm me, Matt texted me.
Hey Paige. I thought that when Damon drops you at school in the mornings that I can wait for you in the car park and walk in with you, or I could just fetch you. Entirely up to you. Let me know. Xx Matt.
I got out of my bed and raced down the hallway to Damon's bedroom, as I expected, he was sitting in his arm chair with a bottle of bourbon. I sighed and walked straight into his room and sat on his bed. He looked up from his bourbon and smiled at me. "Whats on your mind angel." Damon had taken a liking to calling me angel. I didn't mind the nickname, it was cute. "Matt offered to pick me up to take me to school in the mornings, I said I would speak to you first and get your opinion." I told him while I moved to lay on my stomach on his bed. Damon eyed me while he thought over the Offer I had just presented to him. "I would prefer to take you to school myself angel, I would feel better knowing that you're with me. Matt's a good guy and all that stuff, he's just not capable of fighting an original." Damon concluded. I nodded. "You're no match for an original either Daddy. Just thought I should mention that." I said as I got up and walked towards the door to go and text Matt. "Paige we both know I'm a better match for the originals than Matt is. Is Daddy my new nickname now angel?" Damon asked while he smirked. I smiled devilishly. "Don't get excited Damon. I just thought that Daddy was an appropriate nickname for you considering the fact that you treat me like a child. You also make terrible dad jokes." I winked at him. "I wish you were calling me daddy under different circumstances but I'll take what I can get." He winked back. I rolled my eyes and sauntered out of the room.

The next day.

Outfit of the day: worn with the necklace Damon gave me. P.S. I never take that necklace off.

Damon and I were driving to school. The weather was really crappy and gloomy. He knew how to brighten my mood though. Damon gave me the aux cord and I started blasting tongue tied by grouplove on full volume. He turned his head and smiled at me, a smile that would make my day slightly brighter. I started singing and dancing in the car, attracting attention to us at traffic lights and stop signs. "You're a weird little witch Paige. You know, you really shouldn't be attracting attention to yourself when there's  5 originals trying to get to you." Damon tried to scold me but ended up laughing at my weirdness. I laughed with him and we finally pulled up at the school. As promised, Matt was waiting for me on the bench outside the school. "Have a good day Damon, don't go on any suicide missions to find Klaus or the other 4." I told him. He just rolled his eyes. "Bye angel. Be safe. No promises about going after Klaus though." Damon said smugly. "Im serious Damon. I don't want you getting hurt." I scolded him. "Fine. Now get to school." He sighed as he leaned forward and kissed my forehead. I got butterflies from the feeling of his lips on my skin but I shook them off as I got out of the car and walked to Matt. He enveloped me in a hug while Damon watched from his parking spot. "You can go home now Mr. Salvatore, I'm in good hands." I shouted to Damon. "I'm not leaving until you walk through those doors Miss Gilbert. As for his hands, they better stay where they belong." Damon shouted. "Fine Daddy, see you later to pick me up." I blew him a kiss as I turned around and smacked right into someone. "Careful there darling. Wouldn't want you to get hurt." A voice I was all to familiar with said. "Kol." I seethed as Matt moved in front of me protectively and Damon got out of the car and sped to my side. I took Damon's hand out of fear of Kol. "I see you've got your own personal security squad with you Paige. You are aware that they are no match for me aren't you?" He asked sarcastically. "What do you want Kol,why are you at their school?" Damon cut in. "Well I'm a new student here Damon, maybe dear Paige can show me to the registration office." Kol replied cockily. "Through the doors to your right." Matt said. "Now you don't need my help." I finished. Kol Just smirked and walked into the school.

"You're not going to school today Paige, he's dangerous!" Damon shouted at me. "Yes I am! I can take him If i need to Damon!" I yelled back. We were yelling at each other in the middle of the car park while Matt phoned Stefan to give him the heads up. "It's too dangerous Angel. You're still healing from that bite." Damon attempted to reason with me. I just scowled at him. "Im going to school and that's final Damon. Kol won't do anything during school hours in front of everyone and I'll come straight to the car after school to leave with you." I said as I stroked his arm soothingly. "I'm just worried Paige. Please be safe angel, I couldn't handle it if you got hurt again... or worse." Damon whispered. Was I hearing correctly. Damon Salvatore is saying that he cares about me. The Damon Salvatore. Mr non existent humanity switch actually cares. I was ecstatic to say the least but I kept it hidden. "Nothings going to happen to me daddy." I whispered to him as he hugged me tightly. "Watch out for her please Matt." Damon said as he got in the car. "Will do Damon." Matt replied. Damon winked at me as he drove off sending my stomach into a frenzy of butterflies. "What's going on between the two of you?" Matt asked. "Who?" I asked trying to avoid the situation. Matt sighed. "You and Damon, don't be coy Paige I can see that theirs something going on there." Matt pressed. "There's nothing going on Matt. Don't be ridiculous, I'm 17, he's like 167." I said as we walked into school. Matt walked me to my first class and then said goodbye for now. I walked into English and there, sitting in my seat, was Kol mikaelson. I took the only empty seat left in the class, the one directly next to Kol, just great. I though sarcastically. How was he even passing as an 11th grader anyways. "Looks like we have the same schedule love." He whispered to me. School has just become a living hell.
