My Shocked Mate

Chapter 2

Still in Darius's point of view

In the last three months I have been hiding from everyone and staying with a friend at his pack near Oregon. I still working on website designs but focusing on businesses within Jameson's pack. I also helped him in the office when he needed it as he did not currently have a beta as they were away. Whilst being at Jameson's pack I started to train harder and meaner as I wanted be stronger and feel pain as I couldn't get the look of my mates face when I rejected him. I know he did not accept my rejection which I am kind of glad as to be honest I want him and could see myself with him. The truth I knew he was my mate I had previously smelt him when I was on a business trip in New York. I left before he got the chance to smell me.

This next part is going back to 8 months ago and a month before Shadow Claw got attacked and Darius, Diego and his father got taken. This part will still be Darius's point of view and will explain his decision to reject Rhys.

I had just finished a meeting with a potential client in New York and had arranged to meet him and his associates for a few drinks to celebrate us working together. We had arrived at a bar which I could tell was filled with mainly shifters and only a few humans. I knew my client was a shifter so it didn't worry me, as we were talking I started to smell something delicious I scanned the room and my eye locked with the most gorgeous man I have ever seen. I was mesmerised by the colour of his eyes which were almost I would describe as turquoise. Before he could even have the chance to sniff the air I decided to make my way other. As I went get up I was grabbed by the arm and dragged outside by someone. I couldn't see their face but would never forget the voice and what they said "you are not to go near him or I will kill everyone dear to you and I will kill his brother." With that the person disappeared but one thing I did notice with a scar on their face and a tattoo starting from the top of his neck. His eyes were cold as hell.

After that I quickly went back to the bar and made my apologises and left. I prayed that night I would meet my mate again so I could explain.

As time went on it was harder for me my panther Cam became agitated and unsettled even to the point he would block me out. I started to distant myself from my family especially Dante and his family. I wanted to tell them everything but couldn't as I was scared who to trust.

A month after that night and we were taken I saw the glimpse of the man who threatened me and realised he was working with Luke and Jacqueline. I could not believe it.

As the weeks went past in the cell I never seen him again until the night he threw Logan in the cell he bent down to me and whispered "your mate will be going mad by now as we have his brother." I looked at him and replied "why take him when I did what you said." He just laughed and said "you were just a pawn in my game." With that he walked out and did not see him again.

When we were rescued I looked everywhere for his dead body hoping he got killed but could not find it.

As time went on I got reminders not to talk to my mate and was told when we met him I had to reject him so that is why I had no choice. Even though his brother is safe my family wasn't. I knew who Reuben was the night I met him as my dad's mate because he smelt similar to my mate.
