Chapter two

Ow.

The first thought that hit my mind as consciousness cruelly brought me back to the land of the awake was that of the pain pounding behind my eyelids like a drumbeat. After a few seconds of futilely trying to crawl back into sleep, I gave up and attempted to open my eyes.

The dawn light pierced my open eyes and I immediately felt like my head was about to split directly down the middle. As I tried to heave myself off the dusty floor, fighting dizziness in the process, I started to take in some of my surroundings.

I was in some kind of a shelter. A shabby metal cabin that was quivering against the morning breeze . Soon enough The world started to come into focus and I noticed a body curled up and strewn in the opposite corner of the cabin.

A girl.

A familiar girl.

A familiar girl with dyed hair and a music tattoo and-

'DAISY!'

I screamed at the top of my voice and threw myself across the room to fall beside her, fighting the way the room was spinning and the black pushing against the edge of my vision.

No.

No this could not be happening.

My best friend could not be dead, she just couldn't be.

This was all a huge big dream and we were both going to wake up any second.

My voice started rising and reaching hysteria as I shook my best friend's body by the shoulders shouting

'Wake up Dais, you need to wake up now... DAISY YOU NEED TO WAKE UP!'

My head fell into my hands and I crumpled into the floor, trying to hold my self together as I slowly started to fall apart.

'You need to wake up'

I whispered weakly into my hands, as tears washed their way down my cheeks.

'Well I didn't have much choice in the matter when you're making such a bloody racket did I? Bloody hell, where the fudge are we?!'

I bolted upright as I took in the voice of my best friend and threw myself at her in a hug, knocking us both to the ground in the process.

'Ow! Beth get off me!'

'I thought you were dead oh thank fuck you're alive Dais, Jesus Christ'

I babbled into her shoulder.

'Yep, alive. Although not for much longer given how you're, y'know, CRUSHING THE LIFE OUT OF MY BATTLE BRUISED BODY AND ALL'

I retracted my body from hers sheepishly, mumbling an apology under my breath, before looking up to a grinning Dais.

'So, as I was so rudely interrupted in my first utterance of the question by your throwing yourself at me, I mean I know I'm irresistible but CONTROL YOURSELF BETH, Where the bloody hell are we?!'

I rolled my eyes at her usual modest attitude and opened my mouth to respond to her question before realising that I, in fact, had not the faintest clue.

Daisy sighed giving me a withering look.

' honestly you have time to sob over my dead corpse but you DONT have a second to look out a freaking window? Priorities, Beth.'

'Oh shut up, I was grieving'

I shot back with a smile, as the door to the tiny shack opened and 4 men entered.
