The six boys stand outside the door in complete shock, staring at it as if they've seen a ghost. They thought that this day would never come. The day when Min Yoongi finally expresses more emotions than happiness was always too good to be true. But now that it's here they wish it wasn't-- the miserable sounds coming from underneath the door shatter their hearts into tiny pieces.
Namjoon's eyes glisten as he listens to his strong-willed hyung weep without restraint. The leader looks over at Jin, whose head is hanging and hands are trembling, and Namjoon wonders what went so wrong. The younger members start to panic, clueless and confused, so Namjoon steps into action.
"Jin hyung." Namjoon's deep voice snaps all the other boys out of their state of shock, and they all turn to look at the eldest with wide eyes, "What the heck happened?"
"I..." Jin trails off, his eyes glued to the floor. He feels the eyes of the scared younger members staring at him, but he doesn't know what to do.
What should I tell them? Should I tell them that Yoongi has a sister who ran away from home at 11? Should I tell them that Yoongi didn't know that she ran away until today? Should I tell them that she was the most important person in Yoongi's life, and that he's probably not going to sleep ever again until he finds her?
Jin looks up at the waiting boys with eyes full of conflict and worry.
"He-"
"Hyung?" Yoongi suddenly calls from inside his room, his voice cracking. All eyes snap to the door, and Jin tentatively steps closer as the second eldest continues to speak, "What have I done, hyung? What have I-"
Yoongi voice cuts off as he sinks into another round of helpless sobbing. Jin watches, his heart aching, as the rest of the boys all start tearing up as well. None of them can stand hearing their most collected member have a complete mental breakdown. Jin knows he has to do something as soon as possible before things can get worse.
Jin gently knocks on the door, his hand trembling as he forces himself to not cry. Someone needs to be strong, and right now that someone is him.
"Yoongi-ah?" Jin asks, his voice surprisingly steady, "Can I come in?"
Jin shuts his eyes tight, mentally preparing himself for Yoongi to scream at him. Yoongi has always hated when people try to help him, thinking their kind smiles are just out of pity, so Jin expects Yoongi to do nothing less than cuss and tell them to leave him alone. But Yoongi does the exact opposite.
Yoongi's desperate plea worries Jin more than any cuss word.
"Hyung, please, please," Yoongi gasps out between sobs.
Jin shares an anxious look with Namjoon before carefully turning the doorknob. The boys watch in apprehension as the door slowly swings open to reveal the second oldest.
Yoongi is sitting on the floor in the middle of his room, his face as pale as snow. He's curled up into himself like cat, with his face partially hidden behind his hands. Hoseok and Jimin burst into tears at the sight of their tiny hyung, unable to stand the pitiful way his thin form shakes. Jin cautiously steps into the room, afraid of startling the sobbing boy.
"It hurts, Jin-hyung." Yoongi whimpers, his whole body trembling, "What have I done? How could I-? Why did I-? It hurts."
With his heart aching in his chest, Jin sits next to the pale rapper on the hardwood floor. He hesitantly touches Yoongi's shoulder, still half expecting him to violently lash out, but Yoongi only continues to cry. Jin's heart cracks as he spots his beloved dongsaeng's face streaked with tears, his eyes shut tight as Yoongi refuses to look at anything.
