Well anyways lets have some angsty Keith for once. SORRY FOR THE LATE UPDATING THIS IS SO LATE, I HAD A BUSY WEEK! Sorry I know thats no excuse, I'll try harder promise!
-----------------------------
When Keith was young, his always knew he was different from other kids. He was snappy, a little distant, he felt like he didn't belong at all. All the other children had something that Keith didn't, something he longed for, and wondered why he didn't have. A mother.
When ever he confronted his father about this he always got the same reply, his father would take him outside when the sky grew dark but the evening was still warm. His father would smile down at the small pale boy, and look into his violet eyes with pity. Keiths tiny silhouette would stand with his fathers tall lean one, against the faint horizon. His would put his hand on Keiths shoulder, much to Keiths uncomfort, and say softy "Keith, look up there, right up at the stars." Keith would follow his fathers finger in the direction of the purpely blue sky, which was scattered with a litter of small glowing specks that looked like silver dust. His eyes would scan the beautiful array and fill with dissapointment at his fathers next words.
" She's right up there, sitting in the stars Keith, all the way up there."
Keith always thought his father was gesturing at heaven, saying his mother was dead, and thats why he could never have her. Never have a second parent to be proud of you, to never have that other half that would take Keith to school and back. His class mates would laugh at the fact his dad came to pick him up. At least those who were still at school half an hour after it ended. Keiths dad had work to do, so always came late to pick him up. Eventually Keith found it quicker to just go home by him self. A small six year old boy could be seen walking along the dry dusty road on a school evening, walking half an hour just to escort himself home. Keith learnt how to grow up alone very quickly, and as he did, his father began to trust him more and more to himself, making the gap in their parent-child relationship even wider.
When Keith grew older, he barley spoke to his dad any more. A now rebellious teenage pilot at the garrison, keith had officially parted from the only family he had left, and he just assumed thats the way it was supposed to be. After all, it appeared fate had already taken his mother from him right? The only things Keith had left from his family was a knife, why his mother had left him a knife of all things, Keith could never figure out. Yet as much as he hated the way life had turned out, he always kept the knife by his side, as a reminder that he did once have a mother, even if she's no more.
When Kieth was unexpectedly thrust into space, and ended up joining Voltron to save the galaxy, he would often sit and look at the stars, all the way from up in space. The thought of him finally being where his father had pointed all those years ago was so incredibly ironic, Kieth couldn't help but laugh a little. After all, it's all funny until your faced with the truth.
Keith remembered vividly the day he found out for sure that he was part Galra, at the blades of mamora. He felt alone, betrayed, his mother was a alien from space, an alien that he was supposed to fight, and his father had lied to him. Well, he hadn't lied, but he had never told Keith where he came from, Keith could have lived out his whole boring life on earth and never once known where his mother had really come from, or what he really was. His mother wasn't dead. She abandoned him.
It was a hard time for him, Allura looked at him in utter disgust, he might have triggered Shiros PTSD a little, Hunk seemed to think he was an entirely different person. Pidge ... well Pidge was Pidge, but Lance, lance was the one to comfort him. Keith was grateful for that. Very soon the others came around too! Making Keith feel like he finally had a family, who cared for him.
Now just imagine, almost a year older, Kieth and the rest of Voltron are nearly done with defeating Zarkon. Shiro and Allura finally got together. Keith and Lance are close behind. Pidge found her family, and Hunk figured out how to make human food in space. What could be better?
Then it was all ruined.
For better or for worse, something had changed the day he met her. On the battle field, he couldn't ignore, the tall Galran lady who was looking back at him, her yellow eyes shining with emotion. Her dark purple hair seemed to curl around her cheeks, like a longer version of a mullet, there were definite bags and wrinkles over her face, but in that one moment when she spotted Keith, she looked young again.
"Kieth?"
"Mum?"
