We were walking through the forest hand in hand. His slightly rough, calloused fingers were interlaced with mine. He would run the pad of his thumb over the back of my hand as a way of comfort.

But nothing could comfort me.

I was about to bring my other hand up to nervously bite my fingernails when Greg stopped me abruptly.

“Please baby,” He started softly caressing my cheek. “I understand that we might not have long left but I don’t want to spend it like this.” He pleaded.

“What am I supposed to behave like?” I asked him my bottom lip trembling.

“Baby,” He said again which nearly melted my heart. “We haven’t been caught yet. If we do I don’t want my last memory to be you worried.”

“You said ‘my’. You mean ours.”

“Alanna-.” He started but I cut him off.

“If you’re going down I’m going down with you.” I stated determinedly. “I brought you into this situation.”

“I brought myself into this situation. What good will it achieve to have you dead too?” He countered raising his eyebrows.

“You think I’m just going to stand there and watch you die? Are you insane?” I screamed at him.

“Alanna,” he let out a sigh. “We both know that Dean will forgive you for this-,”

“I don’t care about me! I care about you dumbass and I know that he will kill you. I brought you into this situation. You are innocent!” I was hysterical by now and sobbing. This wasn’t fair I was the one part of a gang. Not him. He was innocent.

He brought me closer and wrapped his arms around me. “Everything will be fine but if not I want you to promise me something.”

I already knew what he was going to say and I was shaking my head violently. “Please baby if you ever cared about me I need you to promise me this.” He said resting his chin on the top of my head.

I pulled away to look at him. He didn’t even look afraid and I more than anything wished I could be like him. The more I stared at him the more I could feel my resolve slipping away.

“I need you to promise me that if we get caught that you will go with him willingly, because honey you don’t need to die too. He will forgive you and when the time is right I know you will get away from him and live. It might be a while but someday you will be able to live. See the world and whatever other shit you want to do. I wish more than anything that we could keep running forever but we both know that is unlikely to happen so just in case anything happens,” He stopped to pull out a little necklace with a locket hanging from it.

The locket was beautiful with massive oak trees engraved on the front, it’s branches twisting around the silver as if they owned it. I couldn’t help but think that it was almost a picture of tree I was currently stood beside.

“I want you to have this. To symbol everything that we have been through together and to show you how much I love you.” He swept my hair back from my shoulders and clasped the locket around my neck. He seemed to hesitate with his next words. “Also I want you to know that whatever you may find out about me don’t ever forget that this was real.”

His statement confused me but it was soon forgotten.

“I need you to promise me know baby.” He commanded softly looking into my eyes while I was trying desperately to never forget the sparkling light of his baby blue eyes.

I swallowed the massive lump in my throat.

“I promise.” I murmured and he placed a lingering kiss on my forehead.
