Zayn’s POV

I climbed into Harry’s car quickly, my body still soaked from the water. I don’t know how Alanna had come up with that idea but it was pure genius and it had kept us alive.

She was still in my arms but she seemed to have stilled but I didn’t look down at her yet.

“Drive.” I commanded Harry my voice still shaking, but now from the cold and not from fear.

I was angered at myself that I wasn’t able to keep my cool and get us out of the situation. Instead, I had acted like we were going to die and almost got us killed. If it wasn’t for Alanna we wouldn’t have known that they were going to kill us and I would be forever grateful for that, even if she did come across the information accidentally.

I couldn't leave her there to die and neither could everyone else but everyone apart from me and Harry were skeptical of coming back and helping her. They didn't want her to die, but they thought it was a suicide mission.

I did too, but I wasn't going to let that stop me.

The car raced off and the fear of them catching us had slowly began to dissolve when we got on a main road and there was nobody behind us. Because of the time of night the road was quiet and only once in a while would you see headlights strolling past our car.

“Is she okay?” Harry asked.

For the first time since we got in the car, I looked down at Alanna and saw that she was unconscious. Her arm was leaking blood but the murky water had made the wound dirty and I knew it was only a matter of time before it became infected. She was freezing as well and I was worried that all of these things together would result in a serious illness.

“Do you have a first aid kit?”

Harry nodded. “Do you think it’s okay to pull over?”

I looked behind us and saw no cars in sight and knew that we were safe. For now.  Harry pulled the car into an empty layby and went into the boot while I pulled her wet jacket of her shoulders and tried to get her to wake up.

She stirred underneath my touch and one of her eyes popped open a little bit before she whimpered.

“It hurts.” She moaned the pain in her voice evident. It made my heart lurch.

“Shh,” I soothed stroking her dirty wet hair back from her face. “You’re going to be fine.”

“Good because dying like this wouldn’t be exciting enough,” She murmured grinning.

“Too right,” I smiled back at her trying to be strong for her when in reality seeing her in pain was killing me on the inside.

I took her out of the car and sat her down on the boot whilst Harry fumbled through the first aid kit before bringing out some antiseptic wipes. The accident in the car had caused a big rip in her, what used to be red, dress and the wound looked dirty and brown because of the colour of the water we escaped in.

Harry sighed as he inspecting her, but the dress was getting in the way. “We’re going to need to take the dress off of her as I can’t inspect her wound like this and also being in the wet dress may cause hypothermia.”

Alanna laughed quietly. “Ok. But don’t try anything because I have a rape whistle.”

I couldn’t help but chuckle slightly at her warning and I loved the fact that she was able to lighten up the darkest of situations. Harry started peeling the dress of her body and she help up her arms like she was a 2 year old and he was her mum.
