Alanna's POV
“You didn’t expect me to leave did you sweetheart?”
I felt like laughing at the question he just asked. Did he really need the answer to that?
He didn’t say anything after that; he just continued to run, his broad shoulders flexing with the effort of carrying me. He edged against the wall of the house and every time we turned a corner he would make sure it was all clear before continuing.
“Have the others gone?” I asked him in a whisper my voice slightly breathless even though Zayn was carrying me.
“Yeah. It was too dangerous for them even though Harry wanted to come,” He replied back his voice hushed.
We had come to a stop and I could hear the voices from the other side of the wall. It was extremely annoying that I couldn’t help out, but I was certain that if he gave me a gun I could help with shooting any that came our way.
“You got a spare gun?” I asked even though I could only see one peeking out of his trouser pocket.
“No.” Great, now I really was useless. “Our main objective is to not get caught not to cause a shoot-out, understood?”
I nodded although the thought that I couldn’t kill any of these bastards was frustrating to say the least. Zayn’s eyes flickered to the wall and he indicated for me to keep quiet. The men passed us seeming oblivious to the fact that we were hiding within the dark shadows that the looming house provided.
His lips were beside my ear. “I have a car we just need to get to it. I hid it in the forest so that they wouldn’t see me coming.”
He pointed to the thick and dense trees that surrounded the drug dealer’s house and I couldn’t help but feel a little nervous. Why? Because the forest which he had hidden the car in happened to be at least 100 metres away and the whole time we would be trying to get there we would be in plain sight of everyone who was trying to shoot Zayn and then kidnap me.
I looked up at him and I could tell that he was nervous too. I knew that if he died because of me I would never be able to forgive myself. I bit my lip and tried to think of a better way but I knew that there wasn’t one. Also the more time we spent there the bigger the chance of Dean or one of his gang members finding us and I didn’t want that to happen.
I sighed and swallowed down the lump in my throat. “Let’s do this.”
Our eyes met and it felt like a million and one feelings were passed between us in that moment. I attempted a smile and he did the same before starting the most intense run of his life. At that moment there was nothing I wanted more than to be able to run myself and increase our chances of staying alive, but I couldn’t and there was no point on dwelling on something that wasn’t physically possible.
As he began to run I heard the dreaded sounds of gunshots. I tried not to focus on the fact that they were heading our way and pulled Zayn’s gun out of his pocket and looked over his shoulder to reveal a lone man shooting at us.
A shot was heading towards us and I thought it would hit Zayn’s back until he slightly dodged out of the way and the bullet just skimmed his shoulder. I breathed out a sigh of relief and aimed my gun at the man. I had never killed someone before, and I wasn’t about to start now. So instead, I took the gun and, with an aim that made me proud, shot him in his manhood.
He fell to the ground instantly and began howling in pain he started reaching for his gun again but before he could get to it I shot his hand too. I knew that the gun shots would have alerted everyone as to where we were but I tried not to think too hard on it when we finally reached the car. Luckily for us, he had brought the Mercedes that they rode in earlier. The others must have gone back in one car.
