A Day Out (13)

Ethan's POV

The kiss felt like nothing I've felt before, it was different, she is different. The kiss was built with all the emotion and tension built up from tonight. How could anyone do this to her, why would they do this? I only know that I'll protect her, no mater what. "It's getting late, let me drive you home." Her eyes start to widen like she's afraid. "NO! I mean I just don't want to be home right now." I can't leave her alone like this, and I don't want her to leave. "You can stay here, you can have my bed. I'll sleep on the couch." 

"I can't, I'm fine with the couch. You can sleep in you're bed." I help her off the counter and wrap her arm around me o help her walk. "There's no way I'm letting you sleep on the couch." She looks up at me and smiles, I can't help but smile back. We make it upstairs and I open the door into my room. "Here, You can't sleep in that." I hand her one of my hoodies and she hesitates to take it, but she finally gives in. "Thank you." I turn around while she changes, and help her on the bed. "Goodnight." I smile at her and start to walk out the room.

"Wait." I turn around looking into her glossy eyes filled with sadness trying to keep everything together. "I don't think I can be alone. I probably break down." She gives a slight smile, Ii head over to the bed an get under the covers. She puts her head on my shoulders as she drifts to sleep. She gives me a feeling every time I look at her. She makes me feel good again, like that I can trust her. I feel like I can be myself when I'm with her, and I never want that feeling to go away. I soon fall asleep thinking about if its possible that I could love her.

Grayson's POV

We have an extra day off from school since its some sort of teachers day. I planned to go out with Evie and Kaelin because it feels like its been forever since we've all hung out. I tried to invite Ethan, of course not surprisingly he decides to not even come out of his room. I thought I heard some type of crying last night, but I assumed it was a movie, so I chose to ignore it. I'm just afraid that I won't get back the brother I was so close with. Jessie keeps telling me he will come around eventually once he finds something that makes him happy. I hope that's true, and it doesn't take long.

I arrive at the cafe where we all planned to meet up. I spot them laughing together at a booth in the back. I sit down next to Kaelin joining in on their conversation. "Hey, we were just talking about all the theories about the staff at school." Evie says drinking her coffee. "Ohh, like what?" Leaning my arm against the table putting my face in my hand.

"How there are rumors about Mrs. Briston and Mr. Green are secretly dating, but keep it a secret since it could get them fired." Kaelin is always the one coming up with crazy things, that sometimes kinda make sense. "Do you have proof?" Knowing right away they would say some random things since they always come prepared. "Yes, of course. They are always together, and one time I saw her touch his leg. All the proof is right there, they don't hide it very well." I nod laughing as they join and our food finally arrives.

"So, hows Jessie?" Giving no hesitation they both lean in waiting for the answer. "What do you mean?" Trying to act oblivious to the situation. "Oh, come on I'm not blind and neither is Evie."

"Yeah, we see all." Its true, I care about Jessie a lot and I haven't felt this way since, well even thinking about her brings goosebumps. Jessie brings me happiness, she's goofy and is so unique. "Well, its not really official or anything but we care about each other a lot." They both scream quietly in unison. "That's great, I'm glad you're happy and moved on from you know." Evie says turning more serious. "Yea, she was such a stuck up brat. I'm glad shes out of you're life." Kaelin looks up at me smiling. I know they want whats best for me, but my ex wasn't as bad as they think. Yea, I don't like her, but I know deep down she can be a good person.

The buzzing of my phone breaks me away from my thoughts. 

Hey, I was wondering if we could talk. About everything. I see that its Alayna. 

What could she possibly want to talk about. I decide to just go and meet up with her anyway, if I don't I know she won't stop bothering me. "I have to go, I'll talk to you guys later." I rise from my seat leaving some money. "Ok, but you better call us later." Kaelin looks at me trying to be intimidating. "Ok, I will." I walk out the door and head for Alayna's house.

I knock on the door four times, like I used to. I haven't been here for so long. She opens the door giving me a smile, and I give a slight smile back. "What do you want?" Eager to leave as the memories start to flood back. "I miss you Gray, I know you miss me."

" I don't, its been almost 5 months. You need to move on."

"But I don't want to, I want you and only you." She puts her hand on my chest, my feelings haven't vanished. But I only want Jessie, no one else. 

"I'm with someone else." Sh takes a couple steps back looking surprised.

"Who?"

"That's none of your business."

"I'm not going to do anything to her Gray, i'm not a monster."

"Its Jessie, she makes me feel happy and I know I can trust her."

"Do you love her?"

"Yes, of course. But I haven't told her."

"I'm sorry that I hurt you Gray, I love you. I guess I just have only thought about myself throughout our whole relationship." She looks down at the floor. I know she really isn't a bad person, she just keeps her wall up.

"We're just not right for each other, I don't hate you for what you did. I hope you find someone that will make you as happy as Jessie makes me feel, 

you deserve it."

She gives me smile as I turn around and walk out the door. I hope talking to her is the start of her becoming a new person.
