When I decided to stand up and walk around some, it was six in the morning. Kricken and Dul were fast asleep. I exit our room and walk down the hall to a balcony at the end of it. It looked nothing like the one in my dream from a few nights ago. I was glad.
I lean over the rail a bit. It went up to just below my chest, so I propped my forearms on it and rested my head there, looking out over the railing. It was relaxing. The sun was just starting to rise. Gorgeous. If I had a view like this at home, I might start waking up earlier.
This time, someone walked up behind me as opposed to the other way around. And as I turned, what do you know...Jordan himself. I say a quick "hi" and turn back around, watching the sunrise. I'm not in a chatty mood. He responds with his own greeting and walks up a few feet to the left of me.
"It's pretty, isn't it." He says, but it isn't a question so much as a statement. It really is, I have to agree.
I just nod and make a noise of agreement. "Mhm."
Suddenly, he turns to face me. "Y'know, I was on your side...about the whole hacking thing a few months ago."
"Thanks." I respond. "But it's over now and I still don't know who did it." I frown. Come to think of it, Amy hadn't brought it up ever since the day we....
........she didn't. Did she?
I feel sick all of a sudden and I must have looked like it too because Jordan asked what was wrong.
"..my friend is in the hospital. I have to go." I turn and leave, offering no further explanation. He watches me leave but says nothing.
I walk back into our room, Kricken and Dul still asleep. I want to cry and throw things around, rip the pillows, furious at myself and Amy and anyone else who I could find to blame. The signs were there all along. Amy did it. Amy. Sweet, kind Amy, my best friend who I loved.
'Nothing can fix this, can it..' I bury my head into the pillow, trying to hide my sobs.
