The Twentieth Secret —
Interrogation

"Can you explain why your finger prints are on a knife found in the same area of his body?"

My heart was thudding in my chest. They sounded far away as I was dragged deep into my thoughts within my jumbled mind. When Blakeson had attacked me, he threw my pocket knife off the cliff. That surely landed on the ground below and his body fell nearby, and in my state back then, I had forgotten to tell my father about it.

Before I had known they'd found the knife, my mind was a whirl of how they could've known, why they thought I was a suspect. For a split second, my mind drifted and wandered to the only person I'd told— Logan.

But the overpowering thought in my mind was that he wouldn't. I didn't think he would break my trust that way— I hoped not.

"Ms. Navitski, we need your cooperation." Both detectives seemed agitated at my silence. I hadn't spoken a word, heeding my father's advice before they'd taken me away. He had grabbed hold of my elbow and whispered to me, "Don't say a word."
