Chapter 9/Book Synopsis (Blurb)

Actually, we are talking  Sales copy - A synopsis is really intended for publishers.   We are talking the sales pitch. 

Blurb is a sales pitch. 

On Wattpad after the Title, the synopsis ( blurb) is THE most important bit of writing on a Wattpad novel. It's also a huge factor in the creative process. Write the blurb relatively early on and it will guide you into finding what it is about your novel which catches on. I wish I had done this with The Man between the Crosshairs. In the blurb writing stage I found my self writing 'what would happen if you fell in love with the man you were sent to kill?'. Actually, that's a much better plot than the one we wrote ( which is excllent by the way and we will use that plot for another book). The Blurb is the essence of the book and it encapsulates everything you want to excite and entice the reader with.  As your developing your plot it's good to keep updating the blurb to see if it captures what you need. Don't sell a bad book with good blurb. Change the book to match the blurb. 

1. Read successful books blurbs.  Look for dos and don't

2. Highlight the conflict.  ( Don't reveal ) 

3. Ask questions or using hyperbole

4. 170 words in blurb. 

5. Use paragraph 

6. Avoid cliche's  ( reduce I eye-rolls) 

7. Avoid wasted worlds.  

8. Don't mention other novels. 

Hint of plot and the name of protagonist

Words which resonate with your readers.

This is really for Amazon where you can track the success of you're book. So you can test the effect of changes. Also there are no tags on Amazon. The examples are good ( and extensive )  

Put pictures in their head.
