Chapter 5

I walk into the elevator and when it's about to close I relax my tense muscles. All of a sudden I see a hand pop in right before is closes and opens up again. I straighten back up when I see Emily walk in.

"Uh hey em." I say with a nervous smile on my face. I've never had to hide an injury before so this is weird.

"Hey." She smiles back and puts her phone away that she was staring down at. We ride some of the way in silence when she speaks again. "How's Kent." She says friendly. I take it the wrong way though and think she's asking a different way.

"What do you mean?" I say. What that was so stupid who says that.

"Um? How's Kent. That's all I asked." She says. Okay I have to answer normally this time.

"Oh yeah he's good, sorry I'm really tired." I say not giving her a chance to ask for an explanation of my weird behaviour. The elevator doors open and I walk on out. She walks out to and we go in different directions. I walk up to Reid's desk and sit in the chair beside it. Since I have my own office I don't get a desk out in the bullpen.

"Hey Jayje." He says not looking up at me while stapling some files.

"Hey." I say simply.

"How was your night." He says while looking up at me but still stapling things. I know they're just being friendly and I'm over analyzing it but it seems like everyone's questioning me today.

"Pretty good." Wow I just hardcore lied. To Spence! Oh no this is really not good. "How about you?" I add.

"Meh it was alright I guess." He says.

"Why just alright?" I question.

"Just boring." He says. I nod understanding,.

"Haha Henry has a new little crush." I laugh.

"Awe who." He says.

"Some girl named Maraya. Really pretty too." I say.

"Well I mean he's growing up with a mom like you he better have good taste." Spencer says absently half to himself half to me as he continues working. I just smile at that.

"Well I'm gonna go talk to the others. Wanna come?" I say placing my hand on his. He smiles and stares at my hand for a second.

"Uh no I need to get this work done." He says snapping out of it.

"You sure?" I say standing up. He nods his head. "Okay." I say and walk away. Somethings up with Spence and I'm not sure what. I hope he's okay. I see Morgan and Emily talking. He's teasing her which is common for him. "Hey guys." I say walking over. Morgan nods at me to acknowledge my presence. He then continues pestering Emily.

"JJ." Emily says turning to me. "Do you think I could take you in a fight." She asks. I assume Morgan is teasing her about her strength.

"Hell ya." I say. "But you wouldn't win." I add with a wink. Most of all this quirkiness is fake but it's fun. They both laugh. Emily and I are both really strong so a fight with each other would not turn out well for either of us. Emily playfully punches me in the arm. Which hurts. Like really hurts. I guess my arm is bruised too. I play it off.

"Wow you are strong." I say "fake" wincing. She laughs again not realizing I'm actually in pain. I continue to chat with them but they pain in my arm doesn't go away. "Okay well I'm gonna go." I say and head to the bathroom.

Once in the bathroom I look in the mirror. Last night, I pulled all the glass out of my skin and now the really deep or the spots covered in cuts is all bandaged. I lift my shirt up and look at the gauze wrapped around me. Pitiful. I hope he doesn't do this again but if he does I'm honestly not sure if I'm gonna be able to tell anyone. I mean I should I know but I just love him so so much. Henry loves him too! This would kill him! What the hell am I gonna do. I can't tell anyone. Not my team not anyone. Kent would get in so much trouble. He's a good guy he doesn't deserve to be in prison. What am I getting myself into. I pull my shirt down remembering I'm in a public bathroom. Right as I do this Garcia walks in. I pretend to be washing my hands.

"Hey!" Garcia says in her usual perky tone. I smile at her perkiness. It's cute I wish I was like that.

"Hey." I say back blankly.

"Wanna hang out with me tonight?" She says. "Emily will be there too. Girls night." She laughs. That sounds fun. I'm about to say yes when I remember Kent.

"Where are we going?" I ask.

"My place." She says. Well along as they won't see Kent then I guess why not.

"Sure!" I say happily.

"Okay my place at say...7?" She says thinking about the time. I nod and smile.

"Okay I gotta get back to work. See you tonight." I say leaving. This will be fun just a night for me and the girls. Oh no I forgot about Henry. I do not want him alone with Kent while he's going through this. I think of the first person that comes to mind who I trust him with.

"Hey Spence." I say walking out into the bullpen. He nods and walks up to me.

"Could you pick Henry up from school and I'll pick him up at 11." I ask sweetly. He thinks about it for a second.

"Of course! I love Henry." He says with an over excited tone. "What about Kent? I'm sure Henry would like him better." He says.

"Actually Henry has been asking to spend time with you." I say. Which is actually very true. Henry absolutely loves Spence. He was even him for Halloween last year. He nods.

"Thanks Spence." I say walking away. Now I can't even trust my own boyfriend with my kid.
