injecting ambition into my veins,
rolling my eyes up toward the sky
and letting my exhale be seen.
the high clouds of heaven are gray but
my roots fork lightning in the dirt.
i will not go gentle before i take a stand.
i am grounding the sentiment
into the scent of mint, the scent
of toothpaste and candy canes.
i want to build upon those innocent days-
i'm beyond just trying to be sweet.
i want to grow up just like the tallest tree.
so strong the wind cannot uproot me again.
so i am reinventing. i am.
