Gabriel had just opened the screen door in the front and stepped outside when a beep sounded from as his friends grabbed their bags and flasks."Sorry, sorry, sorry!" Finn sped past Gabriel with his bag and bottle in hand running down the driveway and jumping into front passenger side door of aunty Kelly's car.
"Thank You." Cedar walked out of the house barefoot with his shoes and socks in his hand with his flask, his pastel yellow striped bag on his back.
"Marzel hurry up, you're going to make us late."
The day was going slow and lunch was uneventful.
Gabriel was in his third period, copying notes of the assigned school laptop. He had started a couple minutes before the rest of his classmates so he had finished early.
Gabriel looked across the class and saw that Marzel was still writing his notes down, so just looked back to the whiteboard in the front of the class. The sound of the rain connecting with the leaves of the palm trees outside of the class mixing with the soft sound of the pencils writing down the notes.
His eyes connected with the ones of his favorite teachers, Mr.Tancayo. His eyes were tired, ready for the week to end.
Gabriel gave a small smile towards his teacher then turned his head to the side to look out the open windows. The mountains were hidden in the rain clouds, but he could still see the agricultural buildings and fenced off area that next to his building.
The windows were a plastic jalousie type, to keep the class cool because of the tropical weather. They had a tendency to snap shut when the wind got too strong.
Time passed quickly while Gabriel wasn't paying attention and before he knew it, it was already time to leave for his last period.
"Gabe, you okay ?" Marzel tapped on Gabriel's shoulder, bring him back to reality.
"Hmmm? Oh yeah, just a little tired." Gabriel explained before poking Marzel in the side with his finger.
"Hey! The heck Gabriel, now I'm not going to put pack your notebook for you." Marzel whined as he scolded his friend.
Gabriel shrugged as he closed the laptop and his notebook. He stood up and stretched, stiff from sitting down for an hour and a half before picking up his things.
Gabriel walked across the class and deposited the laptop into its designated spot then walked to the wall cupboards and put his notebook on the third shelf designated for his period.
As he closed the door and turned around, he saw Marzel drinking out of his flask.
Gabriel sped back to his desk just as Marzel had closed the now half full flask "the heck Mar Mar? You have your own water." the flask was snatched away from the teen's hands as the owner checked to see how bad the damage was. " you basically drank half my water, you bozo."
"I drank all my water already and the fountain water is warm," Marzel explained to his pouting friend.
"Yeah, whatever. See you after fourth" Gabriel sighed as he bent down to grab his bag from the ground as the bell rang.
His long legs took quick strides across the school campus towards his final period of the day, computer art.
Although he wasn't going to become the next famous artist, Gabriel did enjoy creating things. He had dabbled in traditional art in the past, he was also taking advantage of his school's digital media cohort.
The real reason though is because of Cedar. The little ball on anxiety loved art, both digital and traditional, but he was so scared to be by himself in the class.
