Chapter 14
As I drove away from Janey's school, Riverdale, I burst out laughing. Who knew it would be so easy annoying Janey?
Five minutes later I pulled into the parking lot, grabbed my bag and stepped out. I scanned the entrance as I walked towards it and instantly found Nat and Tess. They had at least 15 boys surrounding them, all of them trying to talk at one, until Nat yelled, "Boys! Boys! Calm down."
Immediately all the boys stopped pushing and shoving and were quiet. I burst out laughing, causing Tess and Nat to look over in my direction. Nat started waving like a maniac, trying to get through the wall of boys, until Tess put a restraining hand on her shoulder.
"Let me show you how it's done." Tess said. She looked at all the boys, before yelling, "SCATTER!"
All the boys instantly backed off and went to their homerooms, causing a fresh wave of laughter to crash over me. Tess and Nat stared at me for a second, before bursting out laughing themselves.
"I... didn't... think... that... that... would... work..." Tess said, causing us to laugh even harder.
"That... was... so... funny." I said, between gasps of air. We all slowly calmed down and headed for our homerooms.
"So, we heard about the little strip tease you did for the boys yesterday." Tess teased. I stopped in my tracks.
"I didn't strip for them. And how do you know that?" I asked feeling my face heat slightly.
"Oh, I heard Trey talking to Daniel about it yesterday, and then I told Tess." Nat said, laughing when I blushed harder. "Don't worry they had nothing but good things to say about your bod." Nat reassured.
"That must be so weird. Having your brother perv on one of your bf's." Tess said sympathetically. "I can just imagine what you're feeling. Ewww."
"Yeah right, Tess. Rick doesn't even know we exist." Nat said, with a hint of longing in her voice. Wait, did she just say Rick? It has to be a coincidence.
"Does your bro go here?" I asked Tess causally.
"Nah, he goes to Riverdale."
"Really. Does he play football?"
"Yeah- Wait why are you so interested in my bro? You're not hitting on him are you?"
"Actually I think it's the other way around. I was dropping someone off this morning and met one of her 'friends', Rick. I was just wondering if that was him."
"Describe him." Nat said.
"Hmm... Like a guy version of Tess. Thick black hair, hazel eyes, built bod, tall, tan." I said after thinking about it for a moment.
"That's Rick all right." Tess said, looking lost in thought and Nat was staring at me, and it was making me really uncomfortable. All of sudden Tess' phone started beeping, breaking us out of our trance.
"What is it?" Nat asked before I could.
"I just got and email from Rick."
"Well, open it." Nat said, impatiently.
Tess opened it and stared in shock for a couple seconds. "It's a picture of you, Nic. And some blond chick."
"Wait, give it to me." I said urgently.
I looked at the screen of Tess' blackberry. It was a picture of me from this morning, a picture of Janey and a small message. I read it out loud.
"Who do you think is hotter? The blond or the brunette. Email or text me with your answer." I read. I looked to see if only Tess had received the email. I got no such luck; he had sent the email to all his contacts. "Damn he sent this to all his contacts.
"Hold up. Who's the blond chick?" Nat asked.
"My new slut of a step sister."
"Ok, you definitely have to come over today. K?"
"K." I said, as we went our separate ways.
*~*~* Rick's P.O.V. *~*~*
Ever since Nic left, we've been arguing about who's hotter, Janey of Nic. Then during homeroom Nick came up with the awesome idea to ask other people.
He sent a picture of Nic and a picture of Janey asking who was hotter to his whole contact list. When Justin, Jason, Spencer and I got the email, we sent it to everybody too. We even posted the question on our facebooks.
I was walking to my homeroom thinking about the Nic. Over 100 people had already voted, and more votes were coming in by the hour. Then I felt my butt start to vibrate. I reached into my back pocket and pulled out my phone.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" A very pissed off Tess yelled into the phone.
"What, no hello? I'm hurt, sis." I said, ignoring her question.
"Shut up asshole."
"What did you want, Tess." I said warily.
"What do I want? I want you to STOP PERVING ON MY FRIEND!" She snapped.
"Wait- what friend?"
"Fuck Rick, have you forgotten her already? You only met her this morning. I will not have you ruin another friendship for me." She said sharply before hanging up.
God, bossy much. Wait, was she talking about Nic? How'd she know that I knew her? I thought for a second before two things clicked. I had sent Tess the email and if Nic was Tess' friend, I'd be seeing a lot more of her. YES, I thought.
At lunch we went to the library to tally up the votes, so far. I looked around at my surroundings and realized that this was the first time I've been in the library.
There were tall wood bookcases that touched the ceiling lining the walls and smaller book cases taking up half of the space in the middle. The rest of the space was occupied by big wooden desks that seated 6 people each.
"Is it always so..." I paused, trying to find the right word, "boring in here?"
"Pretty much." Spencer said, amusement coloring his voice. Spencer was the smart one of the group.
"Back to work boys." Nick said.
~~~ A little while later ~~~
When we finished adding everything, Nic was winning by 20 votes. It was amazing; each girl had over 200 votes.
We packed up our bags, and headed to our next classes. Ugh, history. I went into class and zoned out, staring at the clock. Time seemed to trudge by, until the bell finally rang. Spencer recounted the votes.
"Let's see. Janey has... 595 votes." Spencer said, "And Nic has... 642 votes Nic's the winner.
We had emailed the results a couple minutes before I got another call from Tess.
"What?" I asked.
"Tell mom I'm going to be late. Nic and I are going to Nat's after school."
"You tell mom yourself." I said hanging up.
Looks like I'm going to Trey's house today.
