Mute Mate

Chapter 16

Me and Jacob we're walking towards the door to go outside, where the ceremony was being held, when I felt my nerves grow even more. As we were about to walk out the door, Jacob stopped us and cupped my cheeks with his hands.

"I can feel your nerves Bliss. I'll be right next to you the hole time, there is no need to worry, love." He said in a soothing tone. I just nodded my head and gave him a peck on the cheek.

"You missed, love." I gave him a confused look before he brought his lips to mine. It was the most emotion filled kiss I've ever had, mainly because he's the only one I've ever kissed. Once we pulled away he took my hand in his larger one and walked me out of the house on to the green grass.

As we walked down the aisle towards the stage, everyone stopped their chattering and looked at us both. I knew If I was nervous, they would feel it and I'd look weak, so I managed to clam myself down by focusing on Jacob. When we reached the the stage Jacob let go of my hand and walked towards the mic to speak.

"Welcome, everyone. I'm glad you could make it." He began. "This day is very important. It's important to me, my family, and the pack. This day, we will become stronger, we will become a complete pack. I would love to welcome your new Luna and my beautiful mate, Bliss!" He stopped speaking and looked at me, waving for me to come to him. When I reached him he wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me close to him. I could hear the cheers through out the crowd, which made me happy. Once Jacob made them quiet, he started the process. He grabbed a knife and cut his palm, making him drip deep, carmine red blood. He then handed me the knife and did the same. I handed off the knife to someone near me and put my hand on Jacob's, sending so much emotion and sparks. I could feel the power serging within me, and I could feel my wolf changing in different ways. The change made me smile as I looked into Jacob's eyes and saw him looking at me with so much pride and love.

I could now hear everyone's chatter  in the pack mind-link. It was becoming overwhelming, so I blocked them. The ceremony I thought was over, but Jacob led me towards the training ground, which is a clearing not far from the pack house, deeper in the woods. When we arrived, the pack following us, there were trees surrounding us and the sounds of creatures lurking around us. I looked at Jacob and gave him a confused look.

"This is the last part of the ceremony. You lead a pack run." He said with a smile. I looked at him like he was crazy. I mean, I love runs, but leading one with a pack is not something easy. You don't want to lead them into danger or something, plus I don't even know the land that much. I did come across a map in Jacob's office, but I still have no idea where to go.

Jacob took my hand in his and gave me a reassuring squeeze, probably sensing my panic. I just gave him a shaky smile.

I didn't want to rip a traditional family dress into pieces, so I walked behind a tree and took it off. I shifted behind the tree too because I knew Jacob would get overprotective if I walked out in just my undergarments. When I shifted I felt different. I felt larger and stronger, it felt great.

I then walked back towards Jacob, his face looking shocked and amazed, probably because of the change in my wolf. I then noticed that everyone was already in their wolf form, so I stared the run, Jacob shifted and ran by my side.

It's been about 30 minutes and I lead the pack back to the training grounds. I was nervous about halfway through the run, but relaxed and enjoyed the rest of it. It wasn't as bad as I expected, mainly because Jacob helped me with the directions.

We all shifted back and Jacob gave me his shirt to wear since I didn't feel like putting the dress back on, which left him shirtless. I found myself staring at him a few times, which made him smirk and comment about how 'I like what I see.' So really the whole way back to the pack house consisted of me looking like a tomato. But I wasn't the only one affected by our appearances, I found him staring at me probably because I'm in a large t-shirt that looks like a dress on me.

Once we all made it back to the pack house we all changed into more appropriate, and comfortable clothes and heading for the BBQ happening in the backyard. The rest of the night really consisted of eating lots of good food, me talking with Lacey and Amber, kids playing with one another, adults talking among themselves, campfire songs and stories, and eating s'mores. It was an amazing time.

Once it was all over, Jacob carried me to our room, even though I told him many times I could walk, and placed me on the bed. Once he turned the lights off he got in the bed, he pulled me to his chest whispering, "Go to sleep, love. You had a long day," and gave me a kiss on the top of my head. I just mumbled incorharent words and fell asleep snuggled up against my mate.
