One month later. . .
Zelda's POV
"By the divine light of the goddess, Hero of Hyrule, hear my call." I sang, strumming the small harp in my hands. "Bear the blade of evil's bane, fight through the night, and save us all. Oh Hero—" Just then, I heard a tremor sound behind me, and turned to see a wave of black sludge, purple lightning, and. . . blood? Not bothering to ask, I ran for it, dropping my harp as it landed in the murky wave and disintegrated. Sprinting for the hills, I tripped, and could only watch as the wave of death rose over me and plunged down—
Only to be met by a shimmering blue shield of light.
Looking up at my savior, I saw the face of a teen boy around 15 years old holding up both hands to support the shield, then grunted as the shield cracked, and the boy turned to me.
"Run!" He shouted, his chestnut brown hair swaying as he strained to hold up the shield, his eyes glowing a sky blue--
Wait. . .
Cayden?
Just then, the shield collapsed, and Cayden fell back, groaning. I saw the incoming black sludge and covered Cayden with my body, shrieking as the black sludge choked me. . .
And promptly woke up screaming in my bed. My door burst open as my bodyguard, Impa, charged in with a knife in her hand, panicked.
"Princess! Are you okay?! What was that scream?! Did somebody hurt you?!" She shouted, worried. I sighed, my dirty blonde-almost chestnut colored hair swaying as I shook my head.
"No Impa, just another nightmare." I explained as Impa calmed down, sheathing the knife. She sighed and sat down on the edge of my bed.
"Everytime I try to ask you what happened, you pretend like nothing happened at all, Zelda." She stated, smirking at me. "Now either we can go back and forth all morning and miss breakfast, or you can spill the beans." I pouted.
"Sometimes I really hate you, Impa." I grumbled, making her chuckle.
"Love you too, now spill." She demanded, crossing her arms. I sighed.
"It's the same nightmare every night, except what started out as just a fragment grew more and more scary as the nights passed." I explained. "At first, it was just me playing my harp and suddenly, an earthquake, then that earthquake turned into a shadow, then that shadow turned into a wave, then that wave turned into a tsunami of black ink, then black in and purple lightning, and tonight, it was black ink, purple lightning, and blood. But this time, someone tried to save me." Impa raised an eyebrow.
"The 'man of your dreams?' " She joked as my face turned bright red. I shook my head.
"Cayden."
Impa did a spit take at the mention of my long-lost younger brother's name, and gawked at me, her mouth opening and closing like a trout's.
"No flipping way, I swear to the Goddesses themselves, that cannot be true!" She shouted, not believing my words one bit. I sighed.
"It's true! It was Cayden! Who else wields the Triforce of Courage and can cast blue shields like I can?" I asked rhetorically as Impa sighed, accepting the facts.
"Your dream must've been a premonition then, if Cayden is very much alive." She hypothesized, doubt still evident in her voice. "Possibly the coming of dark times for Hyrule. But the purple lightning, I cannot explain. But if this dream is a warning, then we need to find. . . him." Impa gestured to a bundle of green clothes, but noticed a slit of blue and some feathers sticking out. Pulling out the now-blue tunic that had two slits in it and a feather headdress with the classic hat attached to it, she sighed and turned to me, annoyed and expecting an explanation. I scratched the back of my head, embarrased.
"The hat got ripped when one of the guards put it on, so I replaced it with that headdress I worked on last week, the belt was close to tearing, so I made a new one to replace it." I explained. "And I may have tried to wear the blue tunic in my sleep and part of it kinda tore?" Impa rolled her eyes, sending me an expected smirk.
"Only you could do that, Zel." She said, chuckling. "But if the Hero of Hyrule turns out to be a girl, then the headdress won't work. And unless the Hero has some kind of 'thing' sticking out of his back, then you will need to sew it up unless you want somebody to find a vulnerable part to stick their spear through his lung." I sighed and got up to reveal two shimmering angel wings sticking out of two slits in my snow white nightgown and feathers underneath. For some reason, I always shed my feathers when I have a nightmare. The illusion spell I cast doesn't last while I'm asleep, so that's why the tunic tore.
I forgot to explain that I'm not what people think: I'm an angel. Not the 'dead spirit reborn as a winged fae' kind, the 'born this way because my flipping sorceress powers went out of whack once and nearly blew up the castle so the Goddesses gave me and my younger brother wings to keep our powers from exploding all of Hyrule' kind. The sorceress powers I inherited from my mom, Wanda Moorington. Sadly, she's dead, so nobody can teach me how to do proper magic, and Impa only knows Sheikah magic, so the only thing I could do was cast a shield, make an illusion, or use music as a weapon. Too bad.
I cast my illusion spell, hiding my wings, and then changed into an armor-plated dress and armored boots, then put on my golden war crown. I always fought alongside my soldiers in case there was ever a battle, so the armor was necessary. Racing downstairs with Impa right behind me, I giggled.
"Let's go find the Hero!"
