Porgs are unaware of the different sides of the force, however since they have been exposed to the resistance it is possible they will be considered light side/ resistance creatures.
They may not have much use except a cute companion, but they are an adorable member of the resistance.
We will probably only see little of the porgs in the next movie, if at all (fingers crossed we will!)
Since chewie brought a few porgs in the falcon we should get a glimpse of them.
The dark side/ first order doesn't even know that these little things exist, so it is very unlikely that they would ever become a 'bad guy' (picture kylo with a pet porg! ♥)
