THURSDAY: DECEMBER 1st
"Hurry up Bianca!," my mom screamed as she barged into my room. My eyes shot open allowing the sunlight peaking through the curtains to burn my corneas.
"You're gonna make us all late!" She says pulling the covers off of me. The cold, morning air caused goosebumps to form all over me as I shivered.
I groaned as I sat up in my bed. "Mom I'm coming! Stop yelling at me and go yell at Anica or something!" I spat back at her.
"No way big sis. I'm already up," Anica said with a sneer.
"Silence, you roach! And everyone get the hell out!" I shouted, throwing a pillow in their direction.
I rolled out of bed as they left. The morning air never let up until I felt the scorching heat of the shower. Still half dead, I slow walked into my room.
"You have ten minutes, Bianca," my mom screamed from the bottom of the stairs. My eyes rolled as I began the process of getting ready. A moment later my mother cracked my bedroom door open just enough to place a mug of coffee on my desk. I jokingly groaned and thanked her.
Finally, I arrived at school. The halls were full of students chatting away amongst themselves, and filling their lockers with books. I approached my locker, turning the dial until it was open. Right away, a yellow sticky note stuck to the inside of my locker door caught my eye. I took the sticky note off and read it. It said "How beautiful your eyes sparkle as they roll at your mother ~your secret admirer" I smiled to myself thinking it was a joke, but when I turned around, nobody was there. That weird feeling of being watched had begun to wash over me. I felt as if I were a deer in the woods that had just heard a twig snap behind them. I scanned my surroundings and saw nobody out of the ordinary. Weird.
After a second, I placed the note inside of my journal before grabbing my chemistry book. The feeling of being watched had gone away by the time I closed my locker. "No need to be paranoid," I whispered to myself.
"Hey, B," a voice called out from a few feet to my left. I looked over to see my best friend, Demi, walking towards me with a doughnut in each hand. "Hey, D. For me?" She nodded, handing me the maple log in her right hand. "Did you hear about the new boy? I heard he's hella cute," she said biting her lip. I scoffed, "No I haven't heard, but I got a weird note in my locker. 'How beautiful your eyes sparkle as they roll at your mother.' No name signed. They just called themselves my 'secret admirer'." Demi gave me a smirk. "Oooo someone has a crush on you," she teased. I smiled along, but something bothered me. "The note was in my locker. Did you give someone my combination so they could leave the note? I mean nobody has my combination except you," I said, beginning to ramble. "B! Relax. They probably just guessed it. It's not a hard combination," Demi said trying to reassure me. I shrugged, "You're probably right. I'm gonna go to class. Thanks for the maple log." Before Demi could respond, I sped walked to my chemistry class.
Time went by in slow motion all around me. Everyone walking by looked liked a blur. I barely noticed anyone in front of me until my forehead connected with someone's chin.
"Ouch! Sorry," I said quickly before moving past them. I held my hand to my forehead until that stinging pain went away. The person tried to yell out a "wait" but I just kept going.
