Rapunzel
__________
The city of Daloon... it was trashed.
Small fires is what was left of the city. A few houses, mostly burned. I don't know if the black masses were bodies or not, but I don't want to think about it.
And there it is again. That disgusted feeling in the pit of my stomach, knowing that my father did this, killed these people... for what? As I look around at the rumble, I can't help but shed a few tears, which isn't like me at all. What's happening to me? I quickly wipe them away and twist my finger in my hair, which always helps me calm down.
"Rapunzel."
I snap my head in Jack's direction. He leans on his staff, his hands holding onto the inside of the G. He looks worried, like something isn't right.
"Yes," I reply, staring at him with my mouth slightly open. I notice that he refuses to look in my eyes. Whenever he talks to me, those sapphire eyes always look into mine, but not today.
"I... I don't know what to do next," He admits, looking down at his feet. "I was supposed to drop you off here and then I would-"
"Wait," I yell, cutting him off. Anger boils up inside of me. "You were leaving me here?"
He looks up at me, and for the first time, his eyes are filled with guilt. "It was part of the plan. You are part of the plan."
"Tell me it," I demand. "Tell me it!"
Jack tells me that I'm like a decoy. He and his army would tell my father that if he doesn't give the five kingdoms over to them, they would kill me. Eventually, they thought that Father would give in and we would be sent to the dungeons. I just have to laugh, but I bite my lip to silence myself. We are both smarter than that. Plus, I have powers, which no one but Father and the guards know about. If I unleashed them, no one would win this war.
But I'd make sure Father would win.
I stand there, amused, but I do not show it. Jack waits for my reaction, and I suppose I should give him one. But which reaction should I chose? That I'm scared, humored, or happy? I could be angry, which I am. That settles it.
My reaction will be furious.
I grab some of my hair and put it behind my back. "You really think I wouldn't try fighting?"
"You've fought me before, you aren't much."
This time, I can't hold it anymore. I burst out laughing, making Jack look like a confused puppy. "You haven't seen what I can do."
I feel something slither into my eyes, and I know they're golden. They don't flash, they stay yellow, just like Father's. Jack gets into a running position and aims his staff at me. I giggle with anticipation.
"Rapunzel," Jack says. I can hear a slight tremble in his voice. "I don't want to hurt you."
I grin. "By all means, Jack Frost, do your worst."
He hesitates. Quickly, I raise my hand and send a wave of blackness at him. It coils around his body, sucking the life right out of him, but he yells and it all freezes and shatters. Jack looks up at me, panting. I wave back and swing my arm, sending black send at him. He puts his staff in front of him and sends frost at it, making a funnel cloud of sand and ice. It all shatters again, and I find out that Jack is the one shattering it.
Not a moment later, a black scythe appears in my hand. I dash up to Jack and swing it, but he does a back flip and I miss him. He doesn't want to hurt me, I can see it in his eyes. Well, he can't run from me forever. I break the scythe and throw the blade at Jack like a frisbee. It catches him in his leg, below his knee, where his calf is. He yells in pain, and I make my move. I run up to a tree, jump off of the side, and kick Jack back to the ground. I jump on him, but he pushes me away.
I stumble back and feel my feet become cold. Looking down, I see the ice forming. I smile up at Jack. Not this time. I pull my foot from the ice. While, he's focusing on my foot, I grab my hair and whip it. It ties around Jack's foot. I pull and he falls.
"You need more training," I say. I flick my wrist up and Jack sails through the air. When he starts to fall, I jump up and kick him in his side.
His body lands with a thud. My vision starts to blur, but I shake it away. I stalk over to Jack, his body motionless. I thought I would be happy that he is dead, but I'm not. My grin slowly fades, my eyes fill with tears. I look at my hands and I know I'm a monster. Realizing everything, I drop to my knees and scramble over to him. My lip quivers as my tears fall on his face. I don't say anything, I bring my hair over and lay it on his side. I sing, my voice cracking at some points, but it's fine.
I push my hair away and look at his face. One minute. Two minutes go by. My chest starts to ache. Tears come back. All hope of him living is lost, then his eyes fly open and he coughs.
I cling to his neck and the tears really come. "I'm so sorry! I-I don't know why I d-did that! Please, I'm so-sorry!"
Instead of pushing me away, I feel his arm wrap around my back. "It's f-fine," His tired voice hums. I still continue to cry until I hear a twig snap behind me.
I turn around with my palm raised to see a girl holding a bow and arrow, the arrow pointed at me. He doesn't look at me though, he looks at Jack.
"J-jack?"
