"Hey Alex! Your breakfast is getting cold!"
"Mmmmmm."
"Alexander." She said again.
"Mmhmmmmm? Mmmm."
"Alexander Chester Archer, get your lazy butt out of bed and come eat your freaking breakfast or so help me God I will come up there and douse you with this cup of cold darn tea!"
"Ok, I'm up!" Arthur said, more or less groaning all the way out his room, down the stairs and into the dining room.
"Don't you think I should shower first?" he asked, the smells of bacon, maple syrup, french toast and tea making him reconsider asking about the shower. As his mother moved from the stove and the table to give his little sister breakfast, she answered; barely losing focus.
"Sit and eat. If you weren't up so late last night maybe you wouldn't be late this morning."
"I was studying! And besides, how could I be late? Its 6:30 now and school's barely a 7 minute drive away."
She didn't reply to him, instead directing her attention back to my little sister, who was currently stuffing her face with a sandwich, eager to go back to the TV.
"Ally! Chew and swallow!" She stuffed the rest in her mouth, washed it down and hugged me before jumping into the couch.
Ms. Archer sighed. "I swear, you two take after that man too much." She smiled and sat at the table, staring at, or possibly through Alex while he ate, causing him to wonder what he may have done wrong in the last week.
"Alex." She said suddenly, startling him.
"Yeah?" he drawled, unsure what was happening. She sat up and paused, staring right into his eyes this time.
"Have a great day today. Now go shower."
