Missi woke up to complete darkness. She sat up groggily, tucking her legs beneath her as she does while rubbing at her sleepy eyes. The air circulating inside the pitch black chamber was colder than before, sending shivers down Missi's spine. She doesn't know if it was always like this before, or it was because she was a vampire back then that she never felt the cold to settle over her form. Either way it pushed Missi to put the thick duvet over herself again and waits for the dropping temperature to rise.

She lays there in the dark, her active mind preventing her to go back to sleep. With an annoyed sigh, Missi peeled her blanket from her body and stood up much to her indignation. She quickly made her way towards the drapes to take a peek outside.

"oh.." Missi stated dumbly.

It wasn't just a large window, it was a glass door leading to a balcony.

The balcony outside was considerably large with its slender rails being creeped upon by vines. It was made from marble, and Missi imagined it glinting under the sunshine wonderfully but right now, it was in the darker shade of blue as the night rules over the sky.

Without wasting any more time, her hand grasped the rusty handleset doorknob gently as if it will crumble in her grip, and pushed. The glass door rattled at the sudden force, thick dust falling down from the movement, but it didn't budge. Missi tries to pull then. The outcome didn't change. The glass door is locked.

She let her hand land flat against the cold glass with nothing else to do and gazed into the night. The moon was nowhere to be found, only its silhouette remains from the shadow of the earth blocking the sun. From that, it made the stars across the sky to become noticeable like diamonds deep underground. They were brighter. She gazes longer, and she swear she can visibly see the Milky Way in the distance, coloring the sky mesmerizingly.

Missi breathed in wonder, creating a small circle of fog against the glass pane.

She thought of the moon once it took its reign again on the sky, this view will disappear like it was only a figment of her imagination.

Now she really wants to go at the balcony to soak herself at the sight no matter how cold it will get.

Suddenly a gentle knock disturbed the silence and Missi slightly jerked at the sound.

"Wh-what?" She stuttered her reply to which she mentally smack herself. Making herself sound distressed is just no.

She pulled herself from the glass door and set her sight on the entrance to her chamber.

"The lord Duke is inviting you to dinner." Said the muffled voice from the other side.

Missi clears her thoat.

"Scopulus?"

"Yes milady."

"Right. Um.." She said unsurely.

"Tell him I'm not hungry, please?"

Oh my god, where's the fire in her words?

"Lord Duke was sure you'd say that, so he says he insists."

Great.

Missi silently follows after Scopulus along the corridor lit by torches on the wall. She wonders what kind of dinner could possibly be set on the table for her. Duke only keeps his hunger at bay with a drink of blood and there is no way she'll make a toast with it, also he doesn't eat often. She got the experience herself where she barely feels hungry in her vampire form, and it was quite a nice change. It WAS nice for a couple of days, until it just felt... not right.

Missi clasped her hands together as they continued to walk down the carpeted floor. Their footsteps muffled across the way, proving that the tension between them- tension on Missi- is thick enough for a knife to slice through. She never felt more stressed in this castle, and her hand aches for the weight of the cane. The cane made her feel safe, more than that, powerful.

"Ugh, I should've been more careful."

"Yes milady?"

"Sorry! Nothing. Keep on... Keep on leading the way." Even though I already know the way. She thought to herself.

Missi flustered when she realized Scopulus was still looking at her.

"Seriously." her hands waved in front of her face to make an emphasis that all was okay. Scropulus only nodded once before proceeding.

They continued on their way as silent as before for about ten more minutes until finally they reached the dining area.

Duke was in there. Standing imposingly by the giant window.

Missi realized he was looking at the stars too.
