I crossed my arms over my chest as I pretended to search for a tent to stay in. Of course, I would stay with Lafayette over the night, but the other boys couldn't know that. Oh, think of the names they would call me. Each tent had had damp leaves clinging to the sides of it. Light filtered through the beige texture of the cloth. Each draft of wind crept under the tents and caused the lamps to flicker from the inside."Payton," Great.
I turned my head to see Geoffrey, the boy with the blond hair. I pulled my arms down to my sides and let out a dramatic sigh.
"What?" I sneered. I had forgotten what Lafayette had said to me about acting small, and trying to keep from trouble.
He shoved my shoulder. "Surprised you haven''t been stripped of your clothes yet,' He scoffed.
"What do you mean?" I responded, backing away.
"You're as limp as a noodle." He grinned.
"And?"
"A woman."
...
"Like a woman." He corrected himself. I took a long while for me to finally release my breath.
"Well, there's definitely no woman here." I smiled sheepishly.
"Maybe, but I'm pretty sure there's a pussy right in front of me."
Did he just..? Oh, he did.
"Listen up-" I scowled, but he pushed me too the muddy earth before I could manage to defend myself.
He stopped dead in his tracks, when his hand touched where a man's chest was supposed to be. Unfortunately, I didn't really have a man's chest."..." he narrowed his glare, masking his look of bewilderment.
"What?" I played dumb.
"Wh- you-" he stammered.
"You're the girl in the yellow dress!" He yowled. I pressed my finger to my lips, breaking my act.
"Sh!- sh!""I'm telling-" he said, like a child who had caught another boy from stealing a cookie from it's jar.
"You wouldn't dare." I scowled.
"What are you going to do to stop me?" He spat.
"... anything." I said, realizing. If this boy told, he would break my secret. I'd be back at home- or worse, in jail.
"Anything?" He stood straight. His blond hair flowed for a moment, through the night breeze.
"Yes."
"Well, I'm sure you know how we men are dying for anything out here." He started to glare down at my legs. The thing about pants, is that men wear them. Once they find you're a girl, everyone will be all over your calves. An ankle is all I had used to show.
"Ah- not that." I said.
He pondered for a moment.
"So, that's why Lafayette is so close to you."He knows.
God damnit, he knows."Show me a little more, and I won't dare tell a soul about this encounter."
"Hell no."
"Mmk, then. I guess I'd better tell General Washington about your misadventure."
He started to walk off in a snarky attitude.
"... fine." I kept my eyes to the ground. Surely, I wasn't going to become this sick servant to him.
"That's what I'd like to hear." He smiled.
I wasn't prepared for what he did next.
