We ended up winning that game. After my goal something just clicked with my team. We were transitioning well and moving the ball well.

Not only did we win that game, but we kept winning. Game after game.

By the end September I really was starting to feel like part of the team. I was developing friendships with nearly everybody, including Adam. John, however, began to distance himself. From me, at least. I brought it up with Collin once and he told me that John had been totally normal with him but he did notice a change when I was around. He told me he'd ask John if something was wrong but he always avoided answering.

It was a Saturday night and my mom had picked up another night shift. She seemed to be working a lot of those lately. Andrew was at his friend's house and wouldn't be returning until morning. I had the whole house to myself, so I didn't hesitate to turn my speaker all the way up and play my favorite music.

I was in the middle of pathetically dancing to my warmup playlist when I was interrupted by a knock on my door frame.

I quickly spun around to see Josie, Amanda, and a girl I had only hung out with a few times. Her name was Savanna and I was truly embarrassed she saw me dancing like that. Nobody should ever have to see that.

"Nice moves, Wayne," Amanda said in a deep voice, imitating Ross.

"Ha ha," I said sarcastically while pausing my music. "So what's up?"

I sat on my bed and the rest of the girls joined me.

"Sam invited us over. His parents are gone again."

"Um," I paused. "John will be in there right? Don't think he wants me there."

"Ugh, its fine. As long as Ayla's there," Josie said with an eye roll.

"She's going to be there? I better stay home then."

"Nooo," Amanda insisted. "You have to come!"

"But John and Ayla hate m-"

"Kyle's in town," Josie interrupted with a smirk.

I could feel my cheeks heat up as I shook my head at Josie. I agreed to go but only because I could tell I didn't really have a choice.

We arrived at John's and we all filtered out of Josie's old ass car. I could tell we were the last ones because there were already four cars parked in the driveway.

Josie and Amanda had sat up front, leaving me and Savanna in the back. We talked the whole drive and it was really nice getting to know her. She was super sweet and it turns out, she's actually dating Ryan.

We made our way to the familiar basement and the first person I saw was Kyle. His face lit up immediately and he scooted over on the couch, making room for me to sit.

I sat down and watched as Savanna found Ryan and Amanda and Josie settled by Sam. The only person that wasn't there that usually was included was Ethan. We weren't very good friends though so it didn't matter.

I looked over past Kyle and John and Ayla were cuddling on the vouch. Kyle noticed me looking  at them and said something to me.

"I can't decide if that's like, overly affectionate around us or just normal."

"Me and you both. So how's football?"
