Ashton's POV
I woke up and immediately glanced at the ticket I had stuck on my wall. I couldn't help but smile... Tomorrow was the big day. Today was a Thursday so I had to go to school. I was skipping the next day to go to the concert. So I had to go and get my work done and stuff. I stuck the ticket in my wallet as I got up. I didn't even know how I would function at school today, I was so excited.
I saw Joel in the parking lot when I pulled up to the school. He was standing there with a smile on his face as usual. I waved at him and walked over once I got out of my car. Well, it wasn't technically my car. It was just our old one that my mom let me have when she got her new SUV. The new car had it all: heated seats, heated steering wheel, seats that fold completely flat in the back, even a camera so you don't have to use your rear view mirrors. The old one was the complete opposite. One of the windows was stuck so it never rolled down. The A/C only worked once in a while. It had really bad fule mileage. And it had working heated seats once but they didn't work anymore. It was an old piece of junk but it got me to school or wherever else I wanted to go, and it was my first car so I couldn't help but feel attached.
Joel wasn't carrying any of his stuff, he didn't have a backpack either. I wondered where his stuff was.
"Where's your stuff?" I asked him confused. Joel smiled and asked me to come closer so he could whisper in my ear. "we're not going to school today," he said.
I gasped. "No, Joel, absolutely not, I need to get my work done today since we'll be gone all day tomorrow..."
Joel frowned for the first time in ages. It was unnatural. he sighed and I felt so bad for upsetting him. But I really needed to go to class today.
"sorry," I said. Joel shrugged and started to smirk again. "It's okay ash... I get that you have stuff to do. There's always the weekend."
I gave a slight smile back and we walked inside. But he stopped. "Oh yeah, I need to go get my stuff." He smiled kind of guilty. "Would you mind driving me back to my house tso I can get it?" How could I say no...
---
After school I normally drove Joel to my house and we could hang out and do homework. Or I dropped him off at his house. But today was unusual because he said he had a ride. I didn't ask who it was, my mind was occupied by one thing, and that thing is One Direction. Luckily I didn't have any homework that day. I had a lot to do and had to get a good nights rest before the big concert tomorrow. I looked at my phone as I hopped into bed. Only one notification, my usual snap from Joel. I smiled and turned off my light. tomorrow would be a great day. I just know it.
