Chapter 19: The Dinner

Ashton's POV

Joel called me up the next morning. "hey, wanna go to another 1D concert?" he asked.

"Um, obviously!!" I said. He laughed. "It's September 19".

"yeah I know, I've been wanting to go to that one but my mom said we couldn't afford it."

Joel smirked. "Well, I have my ways, you know."

"Oh my god Joel, you're a lifesaver." I said. I couldn't help but smile uncontrollably when he hung up.

Joel came over later that day. I smiled when i saw him standing there. He wore a white button down shirt and some khacki pants. I saw that his blonde hair was combed and styled... more than usual. I smiled. "What are you all dressed up for?"

Joel scanned my outfit: jeans and a Coca Cola T shirt. "Go put on something nice," he said. 'we're going out."

"Out?" I said nervously. "Like a date?"

Joel smiled. "Be quick, yeah?"

I ran to my room and dug around for something nice to wear. Ifinally found just a blazer and some black pants. yeah, that would be okay.

My mom saw me as I was running back downstairs after i changed. "Where are you off to?" she said with a smile. "I don't know," I responded as I pulled on my jacket . "joel is taking me somewhere." My mom stopped me as she put her hand on my shoulder. "Be safe, okay?" I nodded and she smiled again and said "okay, have fun!"

Joel was waiting in the car. "Is that the best you could do?" he joked about my outfit. I I jumped into the seat next to him and we left.

I asked joel where we were going but he said it was a surprise. I shrugged and took a little nap. When I woke up I saw us pulling into Red lobster. We went in and I saw that Joel got us reservations. That must be why he wanted me to hurry. We got  nice bench seat by a window so i could look outside and see the parking lot with some pigeons in it. I saw one eating a fry. It was cool.

I ordered the lobster sampler since I don't know what i wanted. I also got a drink. It was pretty fun. The food was great and Joel looked amazing. We laughed and laughed and soon 4 hours had passed. "Holy crap" I said. "We spent the whole afternoon here." Joel shrugged. "Oh well" he replied with a smirk.

When the bill came I gasped at the cost. Oh no, how are we gonna pay for it? "don't worry, I came prepared" said Joel. He had a gift card and he payed for it. I don't know how he managed to do it. "Where did you get the gift card?" I asked. "My aunt gave it to me" he said. "She didn't want it so yeah." I couldn't argue with that one. Plus Joel's aunt had a ton of money, so it made sense.

When we left it was dark out since we spent so much time there. I offered to drive and Joel didn't have a problem with it. He hates driving anyhow.  We drove to my house without a single hitch. I saw my mom's car was missing so she must have gone somewhere. Joel got out and hugged me for a few seconds and pressed his face into me. "I wish you could stay" i said. He had to go do something for school tomorrow so that's why he couldn't. "I had a really good time" i said to Joel, smiling.  He smiled back and said "yeah, me too." his hand finally let go of mine as I watched him drive off.
