Chapter 11: Gods of Olympus

***Percy's POV***

Seeing Leo and Calypso walk out of the cave, hand in hand, smiling brighter than the sun, made my heart drop. Where was my girl? Was she okay? Does she still even love me? I don't know if I will ever be able to find out.

I was so lost in thought that I didn't notice the lone monster still alive. An empousa demon sprung out at me before I had a change to uncap riptide. The poisonous knife had already pierced my skin. Well this is certainly a dumb way to die is my last thought, and then I black out.

***Frank's POV***

It all had been going well. I had found the flower for Jason easily. Then I met Calypso with a quick introduction, I had never seen Leo look happier, it was just when we turned the corner to find Percy that things went downhill. Instead of seeing our friend surrounded by piles of monster dust, we see our friend lying face down, an empousa standing over him. And just beyond that, another army of monsters.

"Gods of Olympus, what happened here?" Asks Calypso.

"Well, we thought we had killed the whole army, but apparently not. We need to get to the ship, now," I tell them.

"Wait what about Percy?" Says Leo.

"Dang it," I mutter. "Just bring Calypso to the ship and get it started up. I'll get Percy and come after."

"Look at all of them, you'll never get to Percy!" Looking, I see that he is correct. A group of dracanae have surrounded Percy, blocking all hope of getting to him.

"We can't leave him there! You know we can't!" I shout madly.

"We have to!" Begs Leo. "Think of the prophecy, leave the water upon the beach. The water is Percy and that army is coming for us. What would he say? He would say to leave him and save Jason and us and Calypso. The army is coming for us! We have to go!"

"No!" I scream, practically in tears. Percy is one of my best friends and we are leaving him to die. It's the right thing to do but I can't do it. Yet I feel my feet moving. Running away from the impending army and Percy.

We are abandoning him, unconscious, maybe even dead, surrounded by the enemy.

In the next moment I do the unthinkable. I hurtle the side of the Argo and Leo begins to pull away. I'm still screaming but I know we have to leave him. It was meant to be all along.

We rise higher and higher into the clouds and Percy is lost. What have we done?
