Carter stood and started to walk out out the door. I instantly missed his warmth. "I'll let you get settled in." He said walking out of the room and closing the door.
I laid back onto my bed placing my arms onto my stomach. Once again I let my thoughts swarm me. An action I soon regretted.
What if he doesn't like me? I've only been hanging out with him as friends. What if I don't get to kiss him. Or date him. For the past few weeks the only thing keeping me from ditching school was Carter. I had gotten sick on Tuesday just thinking about him. I want to know if he likes me, I need to know. I then imagined me running up and kissing him with all of MY energy and he was kissing me back. I felt a smile on my face as a warm fuzzy feeling covered me. I knew I had to be blushing.
The door bursts open, tearing me from my thoughts. I quickly shot up, seeing a quick blur of blue hair that made me smile. "Hello again." I say. "Hey." He said back. It was dark now, I had been in my thoughts for hours even though it didn't seem that way.
He ruffled his hair, and I gushed at how cute he looked. There was a short silence. "Carter?" I asked breaking the silence. "Hm." He said, his thoughts seemed to be somewhere else.
"Oh, you're uh, probably wondering why I'm in here." He said snapping out of it. "Um, yeah." I say obviously. "Uh, my friends are coming over in about an hour. Just wanted to let you know." He said rubbing his neck.
I looked up, "your friends?" I asked. "Yes, I have friends thank you very much." He said smiling. "Hah, yeah. I hope they don't mind me being here." I say.
"They shouldn't. But they might freak out because, well, you're popular. Or were popular." He said. "I'm kind of in the middle at the moment." I say back to him. "Huh. Do you want to come downstairs?" He asks me. "Why, So I can meet your friends?" I ask. "Yeah." He said. "I hope they like me." I say, not noticing it.
He looks at me confused. "Why?" He asks. "Uhhh..be.. jus... er.. ughh." I sputter out like a broken car. He just laughs at me and walks out into the hallway and downstairs, I followed him.
I saw a smile tug at his lips as he showed me into the kitchen. "These are the snacks, drinks, and Back to the future set up in the living room." He said. I raised my eyebrow. "Back to the future?" I ask. "Yep, you can geek out all you want tonight, we don't judge." He said smiling.
I could never watch any of the movies I loved around the popular group, we always watched romance and chick flicks. Disgusting. I always ended up watching comedies and scify on my own, no one to share it with. This was a nice addition to my movie nights for the next few weeks.
I headed upstairs and changed into my pjs and took off my shoes which I hadn't taken off since I got there. I was in my black and white paint splatter short shorts and my kayaking shirt.
I walked downstairs, stopping a few steps up and saw Carter opening the door for two people. "Hey carter." I heard one of them say. "Hey Sam, Carl." He said back. "So? Where is she?" They asked stepping into the house. I backed up a bit. One of them had dirty blonde hair with green eyes and the other black hair and what looked like brown eyes.
"She's a human being, not a science experiment." Carter said. I smiled. He stood up for me. Well, sorta. Don't let it get into your head Trace I told myself.
"She's a popular, her life is a science experiment." The one with black hair said. Carter gave him a questioning look. "She s probably slept with a hundred guys." The other guy said playfully. "Hey!" Carter exclaimed.
I smiled again, he was standing up with me.
Carter shoved the kid with black hair and he shoved back, then a full out brawl started out.
