Chapter 4

"Good morning."
I woke up to the sudden familiar voice that spoke.

I opened my eyes to see an arm around me, holding my waist.
I looked up and saw a tray on a bedside table that wasn't mine. I smelt the fresh pancakes that sat hot on the tray.

I turned my head to see who was behind me, Liam.

I smiled and he smiled back before kissing my lips.

I was in his bed.

"What's all this?" I asked and turned my body to face him. His hand sat firmly on my hip.

"Nothing. Just though I'd treat you to breakfast in bed."

He reached over me and grabbed a pancake.

He held it as I took a bite before him.

I laughed with my mouth closed and full of pancakes.
He kissed me again.
I lay my hand onto his shirtless stomach. Moving it around as we kissed.

"And this is why I love you." I smiled.
He turned on the tv, "I love you too." We lay in the warm comfort of the duvets, his arm around me.

After the time passing by in a flash, it was time for me to go home.

I stood up and searched for my clothes. My body was only covered by my black lace bra and underwear.

Liam walked me to the front door.
There I stood in the doorway, looking at him.

He grabbed my hips and kissed me slow. Moving his right hand down onto my butt where he squeezed it.
I laughed when he did this. But I didn't stop kissing.

He moved his hand down from my butt into my upper leg and lifted it onto his waist before picking me up.
We then stopped kissing as he walked me outside.
I was giggling as we joked around.

"So um, I heard Alexa is home today." My mom said to me as I sat down at the kitchen table that was scattered with papers she'd been working on.

"Oh." Replied before taking a bite out of a fresh apple from the fruit bowl.

She looked up at me and stopped working, "Do you want to go see her? Maybe take her something nice to make her feel better?"

I shrugged and looked up, "Maybe."

"You can take her that cake I baked."
I nodded.

"I think you really need to go Miley. She has something to tell you. Maybe go listen to her, you'll be able to help her."

"Mom if you wanted me to go you could have just told me." I got up angrily and walked to my room, slammed the door behind me and looked for clothes to change into.
I left my hair down and messy, it went well with my huge old hoodie and white ripped jeans. I wore my slides with black socks like I did every Sunday.

"Mom!" I shouted as I walked down the hall, "Please take me to Alexa's house."

"Oh, yeah sure." She grabbed her keys and the cake before we walked out the door.

I got into the front seat of the car and sat with my legs crossed as I stared out the window.

"You know what she needs to tell me don't you?" I stayed staring out the window. It was cold and I watched the lightning strike from the ground in the distance.

"Honey I think she needs to tell you herself."

"Ugh." I rolled my eyes.

My excuse was that I was on my period, I was allowed to be moody.

"So how's swimming? You haven't really been going. Don't you have a big gala coming out?" My mom tried to make conversation.

"Yeah. I'll see about that."

"Isn't Liam in the team?"

I hated talking about him to my mom. She never wanted me to date but I told her if I don't I'll die alone and won't have any idea of how to be in a relationship.

She doesn't know I've lost my virginity.
I guess she never will.

"Yes he is mom." She could hear the irritation in my voice.

"Is he going to the gala?"

"Mhm." I responded.

"Well then I think you should go Miley," my mom raised her voice, "do something in your life for once. Get your mind off things that stress you."
I looked at my mom, I saw tears running down her face.

"Mom?" I took hold of her hand.

She pulled the car up to the driveway of Alexa's house.

"I'm sorry." She hugged me.

I was confused to why she was crying but I just held her tight.
My mom never cries.

"Let's get you to Alexa." She wiped away her tears before opening the car door.

We rang the doorbell and waited under the small roof.

"Hi." Alexa's mom opened the door, "Alexa is in her room."

I said thank you and walked to the door of her room.

I opened it slowly.

"Hey." I walked in.

"Oh, hi." She quickly turned off her phone when she noticed me.

I found that strange but ignored it.

We chatted for a bit before she brought up Liam.

"So how is Liam."
"I think we've sorted everything out."
She nodded.

"I just need to go to the bathroom."
She got up and walked away.

I was bugged by her switching off her phone earlier so I decided to see what she had been doing.

I read through her messages.

Her most recent contacted was Liam..
I opened the chat.

All she had said was hi but she never talks to him so I don't know why she is now.

I quickly turned off her phone at the sound of her footsteps.

"So um, I need to tell you something." She sat down on the bed next to me with a tissue in her hand.

"The doctors, they umm. They told me that the chemo is not working."

She looked up at me to find my stunned face.

"They said they are putting me on something else for two weeks and if it doesn't work they'll stop all the medicine."

"Stop all the medicine? How could they do that? So they'll just leave you to die? How long are they giving you to live?"

I stood up while asking the last question.

Alexa started crying.

I sat down next to her again and hugged her.

"I'm so sorry." I said, my head covered on her shoulder by my arm.

We sat there for a while, holding each other like real friends do. Crying.

"Please fight it for me."

She nodded.

"I need you."

"We'll always meet agin in haven."

"No, don't think about that now. That's our problem to solve when we're 90."

"Yeah. We should be thinking about staying away from hell at the moment." She joked.

I gave a small laugh that made me realize how sad I was.

"Well I guess I'll see you at school on Monday?"

"Yeah." She responded. Wiping her hard behind her ear with the sleeve of her hoodie.
