There are too many love poems

There are too many poems out there,
detailing how I could feel meeting and falling for you
those poems occupy as much space in the world,
as you do in my mind.
I like to imagine you,
near me,
with me,
even though often times you are,
I just can't seem to ever get enough of you.

There are too many poems out there,
that could preach to me how I feel about you,
they could resonate and warm me,
they could make me fall even more in love.
I should be scared,
that words can make my heart vibrate with unquenchable want.
But these words make it so
I can't help falling for you.

Too many stories exist,
those whose characters live the cliches,
the ones I dream of spurring in reality.
I imagine,
books and plotlines in my head,
where we'd end up happily together.
I lay my head to rest in the midnight,
as if it were a pop up book,
you appear in my mind,
and we write those messy cliches until I fall asleep.

There are too many love poems,
and this is just another,
another bleeding heart,
and another vague story.
One that,
one day,
maybe you'll see,
not knowing it's my careful writing
and realize the place that I've lodged myself in your heart,
feels a little bit tender.

There are too many love poems,
and this is mine.
