he wasn't alone when he came in next, his fingers messily tangled with a girl's. in lola's opinion, it didn't look right.

"hello, what can i get you today?"

she returned to her chirpy and fake customer service voice for the sake of the new girl - dominic's girlfriend, she assumed.

"i'll take a caramel frappe."

lola added extra caramel without him asking.

"and my girlfriend will have a blueberry smoothie."

"that's eight dollars and forty eight cents," she told him.

dominic slid her a ten. "keep the change."

lola smiled brightly. "thank you."

he left to stand in line, his girlfriend remained at the counter.

"i saw you eyeing him up," she spat.

lola laughed, causing dominic to glance over, but she didn't see.

"i've never met the guy - and to be honest, sweetie, he isn't all that good looking."

"now if you'll excuse me, i have to make your drinks."
