It had been two years since Brady had died. Cassie was sitting in her room wondering what had happened to her family. Cassie herd a knock at the font door, she went downstairs to get the door. She was on her way down when she noticed her brother passed out on the floor, She rushed to him shaking him as she was brought to her knees. She started saying in a soft whisper "Jamie you better not have left, i cant be here alone with the asshole downstairs, your the only one that can help me". All though her brother was usually high, he was the one to snap into reality when her dad started to beat her, Jamie was the one who at least tried some what to help her make it through life.
Jamie woke up, Cassie told him what she was whispering but made it clear to him. Jamie hugged her and got up to go to the bathroom.
Cassie went downstairs to get the door seeming no one else was going to see who it was. She pulled open the door to find her two best friends Katerina and Payton. She hugged them and told them to wait there. Cassie ran into the kitchen grabbed her car keys and told her mom she was going grocery shopping for the house and out to the mall with the girls. Alice hugged her, gave her a 50 dollar bill and told her to go around back so her dad wouldn't start yelling. Cassie kissed her mom on the cheek and left. Cassie's friends had walked to her house and when Cassie came around the back of the house they were already waiting in her car. Cassie had a fire truck red 1958 Ford Fair-lane, Cassie's grandpa Pearl had given it to her before he had passed away.
They were on there way to the mall, Katerina noticed a bruise on Cassie's arm. "What the hell is this from", Cassie told them it was another hit from her father. Payton stared at Cassie and Katerina was saying since yesterday was the last day of school, that Cassie is to spend the night with her and Payton.
Cassie stopped at the bank to remove $200 from her account, then the girls had arrived at the mall. Cassie bought her brother and her some clothes with the $200 she had with-drawled. Cassie also bought a suitcase, and with the money left she used for gas and food. Cassie called her mom and asked if she could go to her friends house for a couple of weeks, she told her to ask her dad too. Cassie started to cry when her mom said that. Katerina and Payton asked what was wrong and she told her them what her mom said. Cassie was scared her dad would beat her for asking to go any were. Katerina said her older brother Phoenix owned a bar that she could get a six pack for her dad so that maybe he wouldn't hit Cassie for asking.
