Chapter 1

"Don't let her escape!" Yelled the one and only king of the demon world. Howling from the Hell hounds echoed be hide her. She pushed herself to go faster, she tripped and stumbled but kept running. "Don't look back, don't look back" She told her self but she disobeyed herself and looked back, and saw the hounds not far behind.

She gasped and pushed faster. The portal was in her sight. She smiled with relief and hope that this time she might be free. "Get her!" Yelled the devil. She was at the entrance she looked back and smiled then jumped through the portal.

'Atara~' my eyes snapped open and I looked around. I stared at the area around me. It must be night. I sat up and looked to see where I was at. I had fallen just outside a City. I stood up in the ditch and made my way out. I looked at the sign.

"Gothem City"

I walked along the road holding my arms, it was so cold. Must be fall. Cars drove past me hitting my with a chilling breeze. My bear feet walked along the concrete road rocks dug into my feet. I herd a car coming up be-hide me. I moved to the side slightly, so I wouldn't get hit. The car drove past me splashing a puddle on its way. The water fell over me, my hair stuck in my face, my dress sticking to my body. I shivered then continued to walk. I made it to the city and walked onto the side walk. Cars drove left and right, I kept my head down from the people walking past me. I was so lost in thought i didn't notice i walked into a dark part of the city, i looked around.  I herd a creak and I looked up and saw a flickering light, it swung back and forth, making a creaking sound.

I looked down and saw fog rolling in. I went back the way i came, then stopped and looked be-hide myself. I glared down the alley. "Hahaha" a  horse rough voice laugh came from the side of me. I saw a person sitting there his hat covered his eyes but i saw a sickening smile spread across his face. "Now whats a beauty like you doing in the dark part of the city?" He said. A stench of smoke surrounded him. I grimaced at him. "You're lost aren't you?" He smiled. He tilted his head and looked up at me. He had a scar going across his right eye over and his nose. He had a growing beard on his face.

I backed up slightly. He chuckled which turned into a coughing fit. I stared at him. "Come on kid" He said standing. I watched him stand. He started to walk along the alley way. "Well do you want to get out of here or not?" he said. I followed him, he had a small limp in his right foot. He wore a brown drench coat, black leather boots, and a hat. His hands where stuffed into his pockets. He came up to the end of an alleyway lights and cars everywhere. The man leaned up against the wall, a cigarette hanging from his mouth. "Now head back home kid, its not safe wondering this city at night" He said. I turned around but he was already gone.

I looked around but saw no one. I turned around and walked out of the alley way. "I don't have a home" I walked past a store and felt warmth i stopped and saw some kind shop with cake and other sweets. I tried opening the door but it was locked, i sat down on the door stop, i closed my eyes and fell asleep.

I woke up when something cold and wet was poured onto me. I gasped and sat up, i saw a man with a water bucket in hand. "Get of here!" He said waving his hand. I sat up and glared at him, i walked into an alley hiding from everyone. I watched a women walk into a store on the other side of the road, she then walked to a table. She handed another women green paper. Then grabbed a bag of things. I narrowed my eyes and saw her putting her things in her bag. I stood up and ran across the street. I followed the women I picked up my pace then grabbed the bag from the women. "Hey!" She yelled. "Thief!" She yelled and yelled. I herd thumping be-hide me, I looked and saw a man and the women chasing me. I picked up my pace then took a sharp turn into an alley. I turned again taking my route back to the side walk.

I looked be-hide me and saw them gone. I let out a sigh and continued to walk, i felt something hard hit my for-head. I groaned and looked up, a latter was in-front of me. I rubbed my forehead and looked up. I climed up the latter. I sat down and opened the purse. I pulled out a small wallet and opened it. I saw the green paper the lady used to get those things, I saw plastic cards in small pockets. "Hm" I pulled out a black circle thing and opened it. I saw myself, I gasped and looked at my eyes. They where blood red, they used to be blue. I sighed and closed the object. I continued to look through it. I saw another pair of black circles, they had two black stick on the sides.

I looked at them closer, I putt them on my face. Everything was darker I looked at the small object and looked at myself. You couldn't see my eyes. "Hm" I took them off and putt them in the purse. I took out white strings, they where connected to a big device. I pressed the small button on the bottom and it lit up. I flinched and started to tap it. It slid and had numbers on it, i tapped random number in. After pressing a lot of buttons and numbers it turned to a new screen. I started tapping things, I pressed a small triangle and music played from the strings. I picked them up and putt them near my ears. I tapped my foot. I like this. I putt everything away and putt the purse over my shoulder like that women did.

I jumped down from the platform and putt the glasses on. I walked into a store with clothes in it. "Hello ma'am, may i help you?" A women with short brown hair smiled. I looked at her and she looked at me up and down. "U-um, ill help you no worries" She said and lead me to a rack of clothes. She started handing me things, shirts, skirts, dresses, pants. "Now follow me and we will try these on" She smiled. She pushed me into a small room. "Now putt on the clothes see if they fit" The women said. I looked at the clothes she showed me. I putt on a black long sleeved dress and looked at myself in the mirror. I tilted my head.

I finished trying on the clothes, everything fit well and the lady said i looked great. "Just putt on you favorite outfit, when your done come out and pay for the rest of the clothes" She said. I pulled up my favorite outfit. A grey sweater and light blue ripped jeans, and white slip on shoes. I walked out with the clothes and walked over to her. I saw a small tag on her shirt. "Hazel" I said. "Huh?" She asked. I pointed to the tag. "Oh that's my name, whats yours?" She asked smiling and scanning the clothes. I looked at her. "Atara" I said. "Cool name! here you go" She smiled handing my a bag. "That's gonna be seventy dollars and fourteen cents" She said. I took out the wallet. And gave her a some green paper. "Thanks, here's your change" She smiled handing me some green paper back. I putt it in my wallet and putt it away.

"Have a nice day!" Hazel smiled. I walked out of the store holding my bags. Where do i go? I walked across the street heading to that alleyway i saw before. I walked into it and looked around, I looked up and saw a latter going up into a platform a, I saw an open window and climed up the latter. I crawled through the window and all the lights where off. I saw a light coming from the door. I set my bags down and walked to the door. I opened it, hall lights lit the way. I walked down it and saw metal doors. I pressed a button next to it. Nothing happened, then the doors slid open. I flinched and walked into them i was in a small room. I saw a wall of numbers, I touched the number one. I felt the room starting to move, i grabbed the bar next to me. The doors opened and i ran out, i dont like that. I saw a man at a desk he was facing a wall and I walked up to him. He turned around and jumped at me suddenly being there then smiled down at me. "Hello, how may i help you" He asked. "I want to stay here" I said. "Oh alright, please fill out this form" He said handing me a paper and a pen.

I looked at the pen then the paper, then at him. "Would you like help?" He asked. I nodded. The man helped me fill out the paper. "Alright, rent is four hundred a month, here is your key. You room is on the fifth floor room 536. have a nice day" I nodded and walked away. I went back to the small room and pressed the number five. I walked the the door number 536. This is the room i came from before. I looked for light and my hand touched something on the wall. All the lights turned on, i looked on the wall. And saw a white switch. I flipped it on and off. I walked around the apartment. I sat down on on a chair and sighed.
