Chapter 17

"Damian" Haley said in an unwelcoming tone. I held my breath. "Who's this?" I heard Damian say I heard him walk closer to the counter. "Oh that's the kitten Nathan found, hey where did Atara go?" Haley said. I felt sweat forming on my head, hoping Damian would leave soon. "Atara?" Damian asked. "Yes, she was here a second ago" Haley said. I moved my head looking when I hit something in the shelf and it fell over. The two looked over the counter. "What are you doing?" Haley asked. "I dropped something" I lied. I got up slowly Damian looked at me up and down, I glared. "So why did you come here?" Haley said breaking the silence. "I need some supplies" He said and pet the kitten. I scoffed and rolled my eyes. His eyes darted to me. "What's your problem?" He asked. I stayed quiet and said "I'm going to see if Aiden needs help" And walked away. I found him bringing boxes from the back. "Want help?" I asked him. He looked up at me and said while putting boxes up on a shelf. "Sure, can you grab the boxes of dog food in the back and bring them out" I nodded. I walked over to the door and walked through them. I walked to the boxes full of the dog food bags and grabbed a bag. "Atara~" I looked around puzzled. The ceiling lights flickered, I looked up at the lights and tilted my head. "Probably should tell Haley about this" I thought and started to walk towards the front. I heard a creaking and looked to my side, one of the shelves was falling towards me. I gasped and jumped out of the way. The shelf hit the floor, things crashing to the floor, I covered my face blocking the falling items. I heard running and looked towards the door, another shelf fell in front of the door not allowing anyone out or in "Atara? Hey are you alright?!" Haley asked on the other end of the door. I was going to respond but something caught my eye, a glowing light. I started to run to it, it turned back and forth through the walkways. I followed the light out the back door into the city. I looked around I saw a light coming from an alleyway, I ran past people and into the alley. I saw a ball of light, I ran to it and grabbed it tripping in the process. I groaned but got up and looked at the ball of light in my hands and it shined bright. I covered my eyes shielding them from the harsh light, when I opened them again I was in a field, flowers surrounded me, a cool breeze brushed past me, it was the field from my dreams. I looked around for the ball of light, getting up and walking up the hill. I looked at the bottom of the hill and saw a small cottage. I slid down the hill looking around I heard a small happy laughing echo through the air. A small little girl ran around laughing. A man and women played with her. I walked up to the family. "Mama, papa!" The little girl yelled a big smile on her face. I stared at me "That's, me" I said looking at the little girl. I then looked at the mother and father. "They must be.." I walked up to them. I then heard a low growl and I spun around. A hellhound stood on the hill. "No" I said and spun back around. "Run!" I yelled. I was knocked to the ground and fire surrounded me. Screams and yells were heard, as I stood and ran trying to find a way out. I was then stopped by a hellhound, I stumbled backward as it pounced at me. I shut my eyes, but nothing happened. I opened my eyes again and I was surrounded by darkness. I looked around. "hello?" I called. Then the ball of light appeared. It glowed again and I covered my eyes when I reopened them I saw a woman. She had a smile on her face, but I couldn't see her face, only her smile. She pressed her hand against the side of my face then she disappeared. I looked around for her but she was gone. My eyes snapped open I saw Haley and the others. "Oh good you're awake!" She smiled. "What happened?" I asked. "You got knocked out, the door was stuck so we had a bit of trouble getting in" She said. "May I go home?" I asked. "Oh, sure. Just call me if you need anything" She smiled. I smiled slightly and nodded, I stood up and walked out of the back room grabbing my bag be-hide the counter. I pet the kitten on my way out and walked out of the store on my way home.

I walked through the door and kicked my shoes off. "Oh your home, is everything alright?" Mrs. Serein asked. I nodded and walked upstairs, I closed my door quietly and saw Axel on my bed sleeping in human form. I stared at him. "I can't look at him the same way" I walked up to him and leaned down slightly getting a better look at his face. "He can't be the same hound in my dreams," I thought. I sighed and walked up to my wardrobe. "Atara?" I turned around, Axel sat there his eyes half-lidded and sleepy. "Hi," I said. I herd my bed shifting, he probably fell back asleep. I then felt a pressure on my shoulder. I turned my head slightly and saw Axel laying his head on my shoulder. "What are you doing?" I asked. "I don't know," He said closing his eyes. I stood still not knowing what to do. "I'm tired Axel," I said moving his head falling off my shoulder. I laid down on my bed and sighed. Axel then laid on the end of the bed and fell asleep instantly. I closed my eyes and fell asleep thinking about who that woman was.
