I awoke to Luna shaking me. "There is something in your pocket!" I took out the egg. It was hatching. A little crack formed and grew. It grew bigger and bigger until a little black head popped out.

It was a baby dragon. " She is so cute!" Luna screamed. All the little baby could say was "Murraahh!" I gently peeled the little bits of shell from her skin. She was covered in a slimy goop.

Luna watched carefully as I cleaned off all the goop. "Her name will be Moonlight." I couldn't manage anything else because she was beautiful but cute at the same time.

Luna walked away but only to return holding a little blueish green stone. "Dragon. Easy to tell because of the surface. Maybe a water but could be a Monstrous Nightmare." "Thanks, you pay attention in school. I don't." "No problem."

Luna sighed. I understood instantly that she was sad. I sat down next to her and put my arm around her. "Its going to be OK, I promise." I turned so I faced her and grabbed her by the shoulders and said "Hey, its going to be rough for a bit but we will get through, we always do. If anything happens and we separate, don't stop believing for nothing. The reason is because I won't stop believing. Do you understand?" Luna giggled. "Yes ma'am!"

Then she started tickling me and I ran. We ran around the cave until we couldn't run no more. Moonlight ran around with us for a little bit but decided sleeping was better. "Better get some dinner." "Yeah."

We left the cave to go scavenging. There was a patch of strawberries nearby. I set to picking them while Luna set a snare not too far away. Before night fell we had gotten my knapsack full of strawberries, three lizards and a rabbit.

We cooked the rabbit and two lizards over a fire in the middle of the little room. I looked around the room and saw it wasn't very big. The stove was stuck up against a wall and the bed was set on a raised bit of floor. There was a little fire pit in the middle of the floor where we were cooking the animals.

Once they were done we each took one lizard and we split the rabbit. Moonlight got the raw lizard and she tore mercilessly at it. I sort of felt bad for it. Before we went to bed I stepped outside for a bit. I thought I saw something fly by but decided it was my imagination. We slept peacefully that night.
