Dragon Days

Day 5:The Ruins

I awoke and saw that everything was a mess. Gear was flung everywhere. Then I saw that I was in LittleLizard's arms. I poked him in the rips. "Hmm. Let me sleep." "Wake up." "Nooo! Let me sleep." I poked harder. "What!" "Why was your arm around me?"  "Because, now go to sleep."

I gave up and sat up to start  cleaning the mess. After words I made breakfast. Still no one woke up. It was only me and Moonlight. I went back to bed. I awoke to LittleLizard shaking me. "Why aren't you up yet?!" I gave him a blank stare and went back to sleep. He picked me up and carried me to a place and threw me.

I landed in the middle of a river completely soaked. "You didn't wake up." "Yeah only because you didn't wake up when I was up. And I didn't throw you in a river!"

I climbed out and started going back when LittleLizard stopped me. "We might as well have a little fun while we are out here. He started taking of his shirt. While he was distracted I snuck away into the trees. I didn't know what to do otherwise. I ran all the way back to camp.

"Good morning everybody. And before you ask I was thrown into a river." ScubaSteve opened his mouth then close it. He reminded me of a fish. We ate a cold breakfast while we waited for LittleLizard. When he finally got here we crossed over the destroyed wall. Everything that went after was gone. All the towers, the houses, the buildings, everything.

   I was in tears just remembering five days ago. The fire, the screams, my dad. LittleLizard and the others didn't dare stay to long for fear of tears and enemies.

   But TinyTurtle was on a mission to get to the bottom of this. He was being ignorant saying "There could be survivors. There could be survivors."

   How could the others not see what I see? We are here for survivors and Phoenix is about to cry because we won't leave. Now LittleLizard and ScubaSteve are landing. Great.

   I landed down with them. "Haven't you guys ever thought about people trapped in this ruins?!" "No one is alive. The Fire Nation never leaves survivors. Never. This is a waste of our time." LittleLizard is so ignorant!

   We were standing in front of a big castle in ruins. Phoenix timidly steps inside and looks around. She closes her eyes and walks through the once grand halls.
  
   I can feel her remembering bad memories. Sadness finishes taking over when she touches a picture frame. Luna hugs her tightly and allows her to sit on the floor. I suddenly see the grief I have caused.

   "I'm-" "Don't even." Luna said sharply. I see the picture Phoenix is holding. It's a sleek black frame with broken glass and blood. The picture shows a little girl happily bouncing on her father's leg. There is a women smiling behind the man.

   "We should probably go. And I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I didn't know. I-" I was cut off by Phoenix hugging me. "You are forgiven. Now let's go home."

   I allowed myself to smile at her. She got a hug back. "Let's go home." Everyone passed side smiles all around. It was time to go home.

On the way home we had to land to put straps on Luna, Forest, Moonlight, and me, so we didn't fall off. We were that tired. Soon I was out. I awoke and we were making camp.

I decided to just go back to sleep, but LittleLizard saw me. "Oh no you don't, wake up." "Noooo!" "Yes." He bent down and I was gone. I was not going to go through that again.

Soon we were done and everyone fell asleep quickly.
