I rushed through the crowded mall, trying my best to balance the items I had in my head while also wiping the coffee stain of my pearly white shirt. I was incredibly late and I had no time to eat and the drink I had spilled all over me. The morning was going accordingly. (Not)
My eyes stayed on the prominent stain; grumbles leaving my mouth as I realized it wasn't coming off. Just as I gave up I ran straight into the broad back of a stranger. My keys, phone, wallet and whatever else I had stuffed in my small hands falling to the ground with me. My purse tore apart when it got caught on my car door and I had to use my hands for today. Clearly that proved more difficult than intended.
"I'm so sorry!" our voices said at the same time. I looked up to be met with the most captivating eyes I had ever seen. They were a deep blue that had more emotion behind them than I had time to decode. My heart stopped for just a second before I spoke again.
"I didn't see you, I'm sorry." I rushed collecting my things. I reluctantly took my eyes off of the boy and grabbed whatever belonged to me.
"It's fine, do you need any help?" He smiled collecting some of my things. His voice had the same Australian accent as mine. Though his was thicker. Which was a rarity in Seattle.
"Thank you, I really have to go!" I continued my jog to work shaking the image of his eyes out of my mind.
I tried to quietly make my way to the stockroom, but that proved to be a more difficult task. Between juggling the items in my hands and my friend shouting I didn't go unnoticed.
"You're late!" my best friend Alessandra said, now the girls working today were well aware of my tardy. I hurried to the back as she followed my every step.
"Is jack here?" I asked scrambling through the drawers and shelves.
"No he's on some business trip again, thank god. What are you looking for?"
I showed her my shirt and she immediately laughed. The brown stain formed perfectly against my right breast.
"Do we really only have smalls?" I groaned. Our uniform was tight shorts that covered nothing and even tighter shirts. They were low cut and I was no size zero so this small shirt was about to have my chest on full display.
"Where's your name tag?" She said pointing out my lack of identification.
"Dammit! I must've forgot to pick up when I ran into that guy. Thank god Jack isn't here, he would be yelling and I'm sure flirting shamelessly all at once. How that man manages to be such a controlling creep amazes me." Jack was our overbearing and extremely perverted boss. He only hires girls, and they have to live up to his standards. Needless to say he is repulsive. But without this job I wouldn't make rent, so my list of complaints stays silent.
"Today is not your day" she laughed throwing me a shirt that seemed less revealing then the other options. Although knowing her she probably threw me an extra small just to be a dick.
"Luckily though, your on hostess duty, so no uncomfortable gawking from men attempting to smack your bum! That counts for something right?" I loved Alessandra, she was one of those girls that was annoyingly optimistic and undeniably gorgeous. She was the sort of girl that wasn't drop dead model perfection, but instead she had a subtle beauty that made you want to just steal her face and put it on your own. She had this long brown hair that was shiny no matter how many days she left it to be a tangled mess (I hated her most for that). She and I moved to Seattle together about 6 or 7 months ago and have been friends since the toddler days.
"Thank god!" I cheered.
The customers that arrive here are usually middle aged men with a drinking dilemma and wives that don't like to have sex anymore. You can imagine how inappropriate they are walking into this place. They assume all the woman that work here are mouth watering pieces of fresh ribeye. My ass has been slapped so many times I've learned the art I walking backwards with my eyes closed through this entire place. Sugar Baby's was the epitome of midlife crisis and I hated working here.
